Ike Davis (ankle) told reporters Monday that he expects to return from the disabled list May 26. That might be a little optimistic, but Davis has already reported to the Mets' spring training complex to begin rehabbing his sprained ankle and seems determined to hit his goal. "I'm walking a lot better now," the 24-year-old first baseman said Monday. "I just want to get some [at-bats] and then get back here. I'll be fine." http://www.rotoworld.com/sports/mlb/baseball?r=1
"I don't think I was as good as my line was," said (Mike) Pelfrey, who gave up just one earned run on six hits over seven innings, but wound up with a no-decision in the Mets' 2-1 11-inning loss to the Florida Marlins on Monday night. "My command has been better the past couple starts, and thought I made a lot of mistakes tonight, but was able to get out of a couple jams because guys made plays behind me." - http://proxy.espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/23079/pelfrey-i-wasnt-as-good-as-my-line
New York Mets first baseman Ike Davis will head down to Port St. Luice, Fla., on Monday night to begin working out at the team’s spring training complex. Davis (sprained left ankle) was placed on the disabled list after colliding with third baseman David Wright while trying to catch a popup last Tuesday night against the Colorado Rockies. http://proxy.espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/23000/davis-heading-to-port-st-lucie
Vin Mazzaro was officially over. His line: 2 1/3 innings, 11 hits, 14 runs, all earned, three walks and two strikeouts. And that’s history: No reliever since World War II had allowed 14 runs in a game — that unlucky soul was the somewhat unfortunately named Les McCrabb, whom teammates called “Buster.” Heck, no STARTING PITCHER has allowed 14 runs in a game since 1998, when Mike Oquist did the deed, and it has now only happened three times in the last 60 years. http://joeposnanski.si.com/2011/05/16/the-worst-pitching-performance-ever
The Philadelphia Phillies activated pitcher Roy Oswalt from the 15-day disabled list and the right-hander is scheduled to start Tuesday night against the St. Louis Cardinals. Oswalt, who is 3-1 with a 3.33 ERA in five starts, had been on the DL with lower back inflammation. He made one rehab start for Class A Clearwater, allowing three earned runs on seven hits in five innings with five strikeouts. "I felt pretty good," Oswalt said. "The biggest thing is just getting the arm strength going again and location. It may take a start or two to get going." http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6556977&campaign=rss&source=MLBHeadlines
