Press Release: - Brevard County 8, St. Lucie 2

The St. Lucie Mets could not hold off a late rally by the Brevard County Manatees Monday night at Digital Domain Park. A six-run ninth inning led to the Mets 8-2 loss. The loss drops the Mets to 25-13 on the season.

The Mets received a solid outing from starting pitcher, Kyle Allen. Allen tossed seven innings allowing two runs on five hits while striking out three without issuing a walk. St. Lucie just could not get anything going offensively scattering six hits on the night. The Manatees struck first taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Cesar Puello would give the Mets a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning on a solo home run, his first of the season. The lead would not last as the Manatees got back-to-back hits with two outs in the top of the sixth inning evening the score 2-2. The score would remain tied until the ninth inning. Two defensive miscues and four hits later, the Mets found themselves in a 8-2 hole. Manatees pitchers would retire the final 13 Mets batters to end the game.

Marte had two of the Mets six hits and scored a run. Puello had one hit, his solo home run that accounted for a run and an RBI. Stefan Welch, Zapata and Francisco Pena had the three other Mets hits on the night.

The Mets close out their four-game series with the Manatees Tuesday morning at Digital Domain Park. Tobi Stoner gets the start for the Mets. Stoner has made one start for St. Lucie tossing five shutout innings allowing four hits with four strikeouts to earn the win.
