Josh Satin’s fourth-inning homer off Erie starter Jay Voss gave the B-Mets a 1-0 lead, but the advantage would be short-lived. Michael Rockett led off the fifth inning with a double off B-Mets starter Robert Carson and came home to score on Jamie Johnson’s single to tie the game.
Erie took the lead for good with a run in the sixth. Leadoff batter Rawley Bishop singled to start the frame and scored on John Murrian’s single. The SeaWolves added an insurance run off Rhiner Cruz in the seventh.
Satin’s home run proved to be Binghamton’s final hit of the game. Zach Simons took over in the sixth and tossed a perfect seventh to notch his first save of the season.
In the nightcap, it would rest on Collin McHugh to help the B-Mets earn a split. In his Double-A debut, the right-hander was tested early.
Jamie Johnson singled to start the game and advanced to second on a fielding error by third baseman Eric Campbell. Johnson came home with the game’s first run on back-to-back botched double plays.
The B-Mets had a quick rebuttal in their first turn at bat. Jordany Valdespin was hit with Jared Gayhart’s second pitch of the game. He quickly advanced by swiping second base and scampering to third on catcher Bryan Holaday’s throwing error. Salomon Manriquez singled Valdespin home to tie the game.
Binghamton grabbed the lead with a two-out rally in the third. After a pair of flyouts, Jon Malo and Manriquez stroked back-to-back singles. Brahiam Maldonado walked to load the bases and Allan Dykstra earned the free pass to force home a run.
After a bumpy first, McHugh went into lock-down mode. The Georgia native retired 13 straight SeaWolves before Audy Ciriaco tripled in the fifth. With the tying run ninety feet away, Holaday sent a bouncer to third. Campbell could not handle the high hop and his error allowed Ciriaco to score.
With six strong innings in the books, McHugh gave way to Erik Turgeon in the seventh. The right-hander needed just eight pitches to put up a perfect inning.
The B-Mets had a golden opportunity to end the game in the seventh after loading the bases with one out against reliever Rob Waite. Austin Wood was summoned from the bullpen and struck out Salomon Manriquez before inducing Brahiam Maldonado to fly out to end the threat.
Following another perfect frame from Turgeon, Binghamton put a seal on their first walk-off win of the season. Dykstra started the rally by lining a single to right. Eric Campbell squared around to sacrifice himself, but was hit by Wood’s first pitch.
Carlos Guzman sacrificed both runners up a base with a bunt, setting the table for Raul Reyes. The outfielder roped the second pitch he saw into right field, sending Dykstra home to give the B-Mets the walk-off win. The drive made a winner out of Turgeon for the second time this season.
