Charlotte 9, St. Lucie 3

After a nine-game road trip the St. Lucie Mets returned home to Digital Domain Park Friday night to host the Charlotte Stone Crabs. After going 3-6 over the road trip, the Mets looked to bounce back at home but could not keep up with the Charlotte Stone Crabs offense. The 9-3 loss drops the Mets to 31-30 on the season and are now tied with the Fort Myers Miracle for first place in the FSL South Division.

After exchanging runs in the first inning, St. Lucie was able to grab a two-run lead in the third inning on a two-run home run off the bat of Matt den Dekker making it a 3-1 score. The Mets could not hold off the Stone Crab offensive attack. Two runs in the fifth tied the game and Charlotte put the game out of reach with a six-run sixth inning putting the Mets in a 9-3 hole which would be the final.

Scott Moviel got the start for the Mets and was able to keep the Mets in the game through five innings but was chased from the game with one out in the sixth inning. Matt den Dekker led the Mets offensively with two hits, including his fifth home run of the season, two RBI and two runs scored. The Mets scattered six hit on the night and had an opportunity to make it a close game but left the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Mets could not rally late as they only managed two base runners after the sixth inning.
