Names To Jot Down On Draft Day

Don’t be surprised some or all the names listed below are still on the draft board when the Mets pick comes up at number thirteen.

If they are, who do you pick?

1. - RHP Archie Bradley 6-5 Bradley is in the Mike Pelfrey/Matt Harvey mold. Has cannon for an arm. Throws 2-seamer (93-95), 4-seamer (98), change-up (82), spiky curve (82-85). ETA late 2013. Broken Arrow High School (OK). Has committed to play QB for Oklahoma.

2. - LHP Daniel Norris Both Danny Hultzen and Jed Bradley should be gone. Science Hill High School (TN.). One of the best curves in the draft. Fastball sits mid-90s. Considered small.

3. - OF Mikie Mahtook Both Bubba Starling and George Springer should be off the board by the time the Mets pick comes up. That leaves Mahtook, if they chose an outfielder. Sitting out NCAA with LSU teammates. .383/.496/.709, 14-HR, 56-RBI

4. - OF Brian Goodwin Miami Dade Community College – rose up the mock drafts because of his bat - .511 slugging as freshman at North Carolina. Good tools. Projects as centerfielder.

5. - RHP Alex Meyer 6-9 RHP Kentucky – FB 91-95, good late movement, curve 82-84, projects as middle rotation pitcher. Has more raw talent than most of the pitchers in this draft, but the key word here is “raw”.

6. - RHP Taylor Guerrieri Another High School kid… fastball sits in the 93-96 range, but his 81-83 curve is his go-to pitch. 6-3, needs to develop a third pitch.

7. - LHP Matt Purke  - Purke will be available but is a long-shot to go this high. He simply has had a “miserable” season… 5-1, 1.51, 55-K, 47.2-IP. The world went upside down because these were his first 8-ERs of his college career and he developed soreness in his pitching wing. They sat him and he’s now back for the tourney, but many think he should come back to TCU for another year. He won’t.
