Binghamton 4, Bowie 3

Raul Reyes came off the bench and supplied a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the B-Mets a 4-3 win over the Bowie Baysox tonight at NYSEG Stadium. It was Reyes’ second walk-off hit of the season.

With the game tied at three, Jean Luc Blaquiere led off the ninth with a line drive up the middle against reliever Pat Egan. Reyes, the Eastern League’s top-hitter last month with a .376 June batting average, got the call to pinch hit for Eric Campbell.

Reyes split the outfielders by lifting the second pitch he saw to deep left-centerfield. As the ball rolled to the fence, Blaquiere raced around the bases and came home to give Binghamton their second walk-off win of the year.

Matt Harvey took the no-decision in his first career start at NYSEG Stadium. He allowed two runs on five hits and struck out five over five innings. He was eligible for the win after Binghamton took a 3-2 lead on Jordany Valdespin’s RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.

Harvey lost the chance to earn his first Double-A win after Bowie left fielder LJ Hoes singled home a run off reliever Jeffrey Kaplan in the seventh. In his first game as a B-Met, Kaplan allowed three hits and the game-tying run in two innings of work.

Josh Stinson allowed just one hit and struck out two in a pair of scoreless innings and was rewarded with his second win of the season after Reyes’ hit.

Bowie’s starter Mike Ballard went seven innings and allowed three runs but did not factor into the decision.
