Should Alderson commence with the fire sale still? |
Yesterday it was reported that Alderson will look to move Beltran, Izzy, Byrdak and Krod. Krod is a no brainer and will no doubt become a prime target once Heath Bell finds a new home. But if the Mets are sniffing the wild card at the trade deadline, I could see many Mets fans freaking out if the other rumored players are moved. Especially if Ike Davis's health allows him to play and David Wright and Johan Santana return. The most delusional/hardcore Mets fans will think those reinforcements are enough to get the Mets over the top. I disagree, sometimes you need to take a step back to take 2 steps forward. Therefore, the right thing to do is for Sandy and company to keep an eye on the future , trade Beltran, Izzy, Krod and Byrdak for prospects. Then figure out what to do with Jose, Johan and David Wright in the off season. I would even consider moving Chris Capuano while his value is high. I always am waiting for the other shoe to drop with him..an injury time bomb if you will...
So what say you Mets fans?
Derek, as much as I love what's going on, I still would sell Beltran and K-Rod.
ReplyDeleteI also would do anything I could to resign Jose Reyes.
Watching this team.play since the 5 &.13 record.has been great. They haven't been overmatched by anyone. I think, that with.the exception of k rod who should be traded faster then a dropping stock, you just have to wait out the remaining time until the deadline to see where the team is. To trade away Beltran while this team has a miracle within striking distance would be a dagger in the heart to the fans and a slap in the face to these players. Despite such loses in terms of talent due to injury, these team banded together and played their heart out. Now, Betran is an allstar, Bay is showing he may still be a slugger, and Jose is the best player in the world. You have to wait and see, if they lose...firesale, but it they still keep winning, just dump k rod and ride the wave. It may be foolish, and wishful thinking, but this team is fun to watch. They compete. They believe in themselves. It's very hard to break that up...unless theres good reason.
