Happy Waiver Trade Deadline Day
Good morning all! I still say Sandy Alderson might make some moves today. Willie, Angel and Capuano could be on the move...or could be not. Let's see what happens.
I truely hope that Sandy makes some moves. I would love to see the Pagan era come to an end. Dont get me wrong, he's very talented, but on a big time franchise like the Mets, he shouldn't be the starting center fielder. I just dont believe he has the chops to succeed in the big city. Hopefully sandy takes advantage of this deadline because it's the only way to make 2011 productive, and continuing to stock the farm is the best move he could make.
Charles, I don't necessarily disagree with your sentiment on Pagan, but my question to you is, then who?
I just don't see an upgrade in our minor league system right now and I don't really see one on the open market. The only two options that would even be worth mentioning are Upton and Sizemore, but honestly, I just don't necessarily see them are major upgrades to Pagan, who has been hitting for the most part recently.
He should have been hitting #2 all year long, he clearly feels more comfortable at the top of the lineup, but due to injuries he's been thrust into the middle of the order.
I think we ride the Pagan train atleast one more season and keep a look out for future CF options via trade, draft of free agency.
Even if there isnt any one worth while, Pagan should still leave because you already know he isnt really working. Maybe.Bay.is the answer, perhaps a healthy Captain Kirk, or even look into a strictly defense minded player who might save some games with his glove. Pagan, to me, should be the Mets or someone else's fourth outfielder. Maybe a platoon situation with Kirk, until Niewenhous is ready to take over permanently. Or at least until Den Dekker is ready.
