Josh Edgin:
8-14-11: - Stock Up - We continue to be proud to be the first Mets writer to recognize what the team has in this kid. He mopped up Sunday for two more scoreless innings and it’s hard to come up with better stats than he has put up this season. First, there were 16 saves in 24 outings for Savannah, producing 41K/31.0-IP and an ERA of 0.87. Now, after 18 more outings for St. Lucie, he has seven more saves, 25K/26.0-IP and a “hefty” 1.38 ERA. Together: 2-0, 1.11, 42-games, 23-saves, 57.0-IP, 66-K.
Armondo Rodriguez:
8-14-11: - Stock Up: - So much time is spent writing about the “big 4” (Harvey, Wheeler, Mejia, Familia) that people forget about the other very good developing starters in the organization. One is Rodriguez, who pitched big for St. Lucie on Sunday: 7.0-IP, 0-R7-K, 0-BB, 3-H, 3.75. The 23-year old isn’t overpowering and may be one of many pitchers (Gorski, Cuan, Peavey, Morris, Fulmer) that could be outstanding trade bait come 2013.
Bradley Marquez:
8-14-11 – Stock Up: - The Mets signed CF Marquez who will attend Texas Tech and play football there. The Mets have agreed to pay for the school and the Mets will have him in June and July. He was drafted in the 16th round by the Mets, out of Odessa High School, in Texas
Elvis Sanchez:
8-15-11: -Stock Down: - Sanchez continues to slump in his first professional year. He went 0-3 again last night and is now batting .154 for the DSL2 team. He also played first base.
Fernando Martinez:
8-14-11: - Stock Defaulted - Fernando Martinez was placed on Buffalo DL with left wrist strain. Just shoot him.
