  1. Rather take lidge. Knows the league, has played and succeeded in big market town, and might like to stay in the NL. Who knows at this point what the market will be for these guys. Honestly, if 2012 becomes a rebuilding year, is spending 3 or 4 mill on a closer too steep a price? IMO, it's not unless Reyes signs and they try to squeak every last win out of the season they can. If he goes elsewhere which seems most probable, then whats it really matter? You'll just be spending the cash to fight for third place instead of fourth. We'll see

  3. Lidge has talent but blows up way too often.

Of course, it makes sense if he wants to continue following the Billy Wagner career path - Houston-Philly-NYM lol.

  4. There now are a ton of good closers available in this Hot Stove League.

Every time a new one comes on the market, the value of all their future contract drops.

There is no better time to sign one to a 2-3 year deal.
