Well, I certainly hope so. Jon Niese is a young, inexpensive, left handed starting pitcher that can help us get through 2012 and 2013. Heck, he may even be good enough to join the other prospects in 2014 as a middle rotation starter (and it's not like good, lefty starters are plentiful).
Seth Smith is approaching 30 years old (meaning we have seen his best), plays half his games in Coors Field (still a good hitter's park) and plays a position (corner OF) that we have covered for now.
If Sandy made that sort of trade, I would have to question whether he was extremely drunk at the time.
