  1. Mack,

I know that everyone wants to blame everything the Mets do on their precarious financial condition, however, I was wondering whether you thought that the closing of the low "A" team whether it be Kingsport or GCL Mets is more about reacting to new collective bargaining agreement? If the most recent reports are true and the Mets are closing the GCL Mets in Port Saint Lucie if it what was all about money I would think that as that is already part of their St. Lucie complex I can't see that saving them as much money as closing Kingsport. I suspect that this might be the Mets recognizing that they are going to need to spend more in the Latin American countries in order to get the best prospects. I also was wondering your thoughts on how the Mets minor league stadiums impact for better or worse the growth of players. Savannah for example I believe is very difficult to hit in, especially for power. That not only might lead to make it more difficult to read whether a player is ready for the next level whether it be a hitter being hurt by the stadium or a pitcher may be overly benefitting from the stadium. Then in the upper levels cold weather is a significant needs to be factored in. Do the Mets risk Familia, Harvey, Wheeler by starting them in cold weather.( I still cringe when I remember Tim Leary starting on a cold day in Chicago. I'll never forgive Joe Torre for ruining such a promising career) Do the Mets as an organization even look at what would be the best fit for their organization? I'm not sure that the Mets are doing themselves any favors by being tied to their current farm teams. Any chance they might get Norfolk back for their AAA team? Thanks for the reply, Mark

  3. I'm very unhappy that the Mets cut the GCL team. It's not smart baseball and if done for "Financial Reasons" it says, "HEY BUD SELIG! We don't have the money to run a pro ball club!" A minor league team can be operated below the cost of signing John Rauch.

  4. Curious as to what they'll actually save...guess that means junes draft picks heading to brooklyn or kingsport. Some kids maybe having tougher competition then they would have normally. Some possibly starting out higher then they would've normally. Does it really matter that much development wise? Think the biggest issue is that the money isn't there. Looks as if they're slashing money in places where they can easily explain it away as a non issue. Probably hoping Selig doesn't come calling.
