1. In support of the recent changes that the Major League Baseball Association handed down during the Winter Meetings in Dallas, all Mack’s Mets writers will now wear a cup when they are writing a post for the web site.
2. This will the last year I send out mock drafts and compile draft prospects. I will continue to post info on five kids at a time under a “2013 Draft” post that will be published at 12:01am every night. The rest has simply become too taxing for me. If anybody wants to do it here, or do it on your own site, contact me at macksmets@gmail.com and I will forward to you all the info I have saved for the 2013, 2014, and 2015 class.
3. I HEARD FROM EX-Met 1B prospect, Stefan Welch, who decided to hit the free agent market and signed with the Pirates. Welch emailed: “Hey Mack, How are ya? Sorry about the late reply but thanks for your message. Ha-ha, the Mets were great to me and are a great organization so hopefully look forward to playing against some old mates! Thanks again for the message and keep up the good work on the website because it's always a great read.” I’ll miss him.4. So, my gumba, Adam Rubin, reported that Sandy Alderson told Mets bloggers at the Mets Christmas party I wasn’t invited to, that pitcher Johan Santana might not be ready come April. Really? Gee, that comes as news to me (sic). I told all the readers here in September that you will never see Santana pitch another game at Citifield and I stand at the med reports I’ve been told of. Oh yeah, don’t bother translating all those twitter posts either. It’s all hype.
Good idea re the draft stuff. I'm only interested in these guys once they've been drafted by the Mets. This site is chock full of incredible information about the Mets and its minor league system and players. Anyone with an intense interest in upcoming baseball drafts has plenty of places to turn for the info.
ReplyDeleteJust my opinion.
