D1 Weekend Game Notes
• Florida’s Austin Maddox did get beat up pretty good Thursday by South Carolina: 0.2-IP, 3-ER, 2-BB. These were the first walks issued all season from Maddox and his ERA has now “soared” to 1.89.
You may remember that I said that Kyle Zimmer was moving up the mock drafts... well, he pitched his second CG shutout in a row yesterday.
• GT Buck Farmer had the kind of outing that costs you big time come draft day: 4.1-IP, 11-ER. His seasonal ERA is now 7.08. He went into the season a lock to be drafted on day one.
• TAMU’s Michael Wacha stepped up Friday night: .0-IP, CG, 0-R, 2-H, 8-K, 0-BB. Has to elevate his status for an early first round pick.
• Rio Ruiz had surgery on his neck to treat a blood clot. Out for the year
