Draft - Sunday Game Notes

·         #16 LSU squeaked out a 5-4 win against Dartmouth Sunday, behind the timely hitting of RF junior Raph Rhymes. Rhymes went 4-5 2-R, 2-RBI and shared with us his thoughts after the game:

“Thought we played a good game today and came out with a good win. It's good that our team came together and won a close game. Games in the SEC are going to be tuff and we are going to have to win the one run games like we did today. Today I was fortunate enough to put some good swings on some balls. I just wanted to have a good approach today at the plate and let that carry over to the guys behind me. Our pitching was great today and I wanted to help those guys out any way I could. I give credit to the guys in front of me putting together some good at bats and giving me the opportunity to drive them in. Overall it was a great weekend for our team and Tigernation.”

Raph’s stat line is quite impressive: .457/.596/.950. Remember this name.

·        FAU OF Alex Hudak  (.421, 4-HR, 13-RBI)  will be out 4-6 weeks with a fracture ankle

·         Georgia Tech beat Rutgers, 6-3, led by Sam Dove’s 3-4, 1-R, 1-RBI day. Dove was all team after the game:

“We just finished up a sweep of Rutgers this weekend where our pitching shined and our bats exploded. Our offense started off a little slow at the beginning of the season but I think everyone is getting comfortable in the box now and our line-up top to bottom is dangerous. Our pitching staff has really been looking strong with a lot of guys having quality outings. We have big expectations for this season and are excited to start up ACC play with NC State next weekend. Count on the Jackets to make some noise come June.”

The 6-2 junior OF Dove leads the team with an impressive line of: .419/.510/.512.

Keith Law was asked n Twitter where he thought USF 6-3 RHP Kyle Zimmer would go in the draft:

Top ten. Good chance for top five now

So far this season, Zimmer has given up only one run in 15.0-IP. Zimmer’s arsenal includes a 94-97 fastball.
