STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Mark Cohoon (1-2, 2.50) makes his fourth start of the season and second against the SeaWolves. The southpaw scattered seven hits and allowed one run over seven innings to earn his first win of the season in his last start against the Portland Sea Dogs on April 21. Cohoon allowed two runs on three hits over five innings in a loss to the SeaWolves on April 10. The Texas native started last season with the B-Mets. He went 1-3 with a 3.81 ERA in nine starts before being promoted to Buffalo (AAA) in late May. In 18 starts in the International League, Cohoon went 4-11 and compiled a 6.11 ERA. A 12th-round pick in the June 2008 draft by the Mets, the southpaw is in his fifth season of pro baseball. It’s his third year with the B-Mets.
LHP Kelvin De La Cruz (1-1, 3.14) takes the mound for the fifth time this season to make his third start. The southpaw struck out four and allowed just two hits over six shutout innings in a win over the Bowie Baysox on April 20. De La Cruz made a relief appearance against the B-Mets on April 9. He allowed one run on two hits over three innings. De La Cruz spent the first seven years of his pro career in the Cleveland Indians system. He was claimed off waivers by the Tigers in late March 2012. This sea-son is his fourth in the Eastern League after spending parts of three seasons with the Akron Aeros.
SHOCK AND AWE: Last night the Fisher Cats pounded out 18 hits, including nine for extra-bases and four home runs. The hits total was the most allowed by the B-Mets since they surren-dered 19 to the Portland Sea Dogs on July 5, 2011. It was also two shy of the franchise record of 20 the Norwich Navigators picked up on June 3, 2001.
PEAVEY ROUGHED UP: After two straight rough starts, B-Mets starter Greg Peavey has watched his ERA sky-rocket from 0.00 to 7.56.
POWER STROKE: B-Mets centerfielder Matt den Dekker ripped his second home run in as many days last night. He leads the team with three bombs in 2012
THE STREAKS CONTINUE: B-Mets infielder Josh Rodri-guez kicked his hitting streak to nine games with a single in the third inning last night. It is tied for second-longest for the B-Mets this season. Juan Lagares ex-tended his streak to seven games in his final at bat, singling off Aaron Loup in the eighth.
HELLO JERRY UHT PARK: The B-Mets make their first of two visits to Erie this season. Last year, the B-Mets went 5-5 in Erie against the SeaWolves, capping their visit by sweeping a four-game series in late August.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The B-Mets hit the pavement for their second of twelve roadtrips of the year. They are 3-4 away from home this season.
AGAINST THE SEAWOLVES: The B-Mets split a rain-shortened two-game series with the SeaWolves back at NYSEG Stadium in the first week of the season. Binghamton hit just .222 as a team during the two games and compiled a 4.76 staff ERA.
