Binghamton vs. New Hampshire

The Binghamton Mets continue their seven-game homestand against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats tonight at 6:35 PM. Following a day off yesterday, the B-Mets welcome in the defending Eastern League champions for a three-game series. The Fisher Cats are the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.  
B-Mets Previous Series (v Portland, 4-0): The B-Mets completed their first series sweep of the season, taking all four games against the Portland Sea Dogs to start the homestand. Binghamton racked up ten hits or more in three games during the series and hit .338 as a team (46-for-136). Darin Gorski struck out four over six shutout innings to lead Binghamton to a 6-0 win on Thursday night. Josh Rodriguez launched a three-run homer to give the B-Mets the lead for good in a 7-5 win on Friday. Binghamton tagged reliever Will Latimer for three runs on four straight singles en route to a 6-1 victory on Saturday. Rylan Sandoval drove home four with a double and triple to complete the sweep in a 7-2 win on Sunday afternoon.

New Hampshire Previous Series (@ New Britain, 1-2): The Fisher Cats arrive in Binghamton after dropping two against the New Britain Rock Cats in Connecticut. Their contest on Sunday was rained out. Journeyman Kevin Howard went 4-for-5 and drove home three runs, including the tie-breaker in the top of the ninth in New Hampshire's 6-5 win on Thursday. Newly added Fisher Cats pitcher Casey Lawrence was tagged for four runs on five hits over two innings of relief in a 7-3 loss on Friday. Ryan Tepera allowed nine hits in a 4-1 defeat on Saturday.


B-Mets Briefing: Binghamton has won four games in a row and sit a season-best two games over .500. It is the first time the club has been two games or more over .500 since they were 53-51 on July 27, 2010. The B-Mets raised their team batting average by 28 percentage points during their four games series against the Sea Dogs. Binghamton jumped from 12th in the league to a tie in sixth. The B-Mets' pitching staff ERA of 2.64 is second-best in the Eastern League. Their pitchers have struck out 137 through 16 games, tied for the most in the league.


New Hampshire Briefing: The Fisher Cats arrive in Binghamton having dropped two in a row. They have not played since Saturday. After starting the season 3-2, the team has gone 3-8. New Hampshire has the second-lowest team batting average in the league, hitting at just .238. However, they rank second in stolen bases with 26. The Fisher Cats staff ERA of 4.34 is ninth in the league. Defensively, they have committed 25 errors, tied for most in the Eastern League.


B-Mets Against the Fisher Cats (1-2): The B-Mets dropped two games at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium last week in a rollercoaster three-games series. Binghamton scored a season-high ten runs in their only win on April 17. The victory was sandwiched by a loss in which they stranded nine men and another in which they were shutout.
