Buffalo 12 Lehigh Valley 1

Who needs a DH anyway?

After waiting more than 17 years to get a home run from a pitcher, the Bisons got their second this week as Matt Harvey blasted one out in a 12-1 domination of the IronPigs on Wednesday from Coca-Cola Park.

Harvey hit a two-run no-doubter to left-center in the fifth inning off B.J. Rosenberg for his first career home run. His blast came two days after Dylan Owen left the yard in Lehigh Valley. Owen's homer was the first by a Herd pitcher since John Hope went deep on August 6, 1994 against Indianapolis.

The home run from Harvey grabs the headlines, but was just part of a complete victory for the Herd. Prior to the blast, the Bisons righty had retired all 12 IronPigs he faced. Following up a 10-strikeout performance on Friday in Syracuse, the Mets' prospect struck out five and walked none in seven shutout innings for the win.

The seven innings was a season high for Harvey. His performance lowered his season-ERA almost two full runs from 6.63 to 4.85.

Buffalo also had a 9-0 lead before Harvey's home run. A constant Bisons' attack began with a four-run second inning that was highlighted by Omar Quintanilla's two-run home run. The Herd got two more runs in the third off Josh Satin's second longball of the season.

A 6-0 lead grew in the fourth as the Bisons tacked on three more with run-scoring hits from Vinny Rottino, Valentino Pascucci and Satin.

Lucas May finished the scoring for Buffalo with a solo home run in the seventh inning.
Satin finished the game a triple away from the cycle. With two doubles and a home run, Satin scored twice and drove in two runs.

BISONS NOTES: Valentino Pascucci had three hits and will bring a 10-game hit streak back to Buffalo with him. The slugger has averaged .333 since April 13...Lehigh Valley broke the shutout with a run in the bottom of the ninth inning...Buffalo had a season-high eight extra-base hits...Harvey now has three hits and three RBI in two games as a hitter.
