Buffalo 4, Lehigh Valley 1

If you play a strong game and come out with a victory, why not try to do the exact same thing the next night.

Buffalo snapped Lehigh Valley's six-game winning streak with a 4-1 victory at Coca-Cola Field on Tuesday night. The club liked it so much, they put together almost the exact same win on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Chris Schwinden allowed just one run on four hits in seven innings of work to improve to 2-1 on the year. It was Jeremy Hefner's turn on Wednesday: one run, four hits, seven innings. Hefner is also now 2-1 on the year.

For the second straight night, the Bisons' opponent scored first. The only blemish on Hefner's line was an unearned run in the first inning on a passed ball. Hefner faced the minimum in innings four through seven.

And for the second consecutive evening, the Bisons rallied for four runs for the victory. The hot-hitting Zach Lutz doubled home Bobby Scales in the fourth inning to tie the game. In the seventh, Scales provided the clutch hit with an RBI-double to left field with two outs.

Scales would then score along with Jordany Valdespin on Val Pascucci's two-run single that gave the Herd insurance.

With a walk and a double, Scales continued his amazing streak of getting on base twice in every game, which now stands at 11 games. Amazingly enough, the veteran's on-base percentage went DOWN on Wednesday to .551 after going 1-3 with a walk.

Justin Hampson retired all six batters he faced to earn his first save of the season.

Buffalo will go for the series win on Thursday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. with Garrett Olson pitching against former Bison, Scott Elarton.

BISONS NOTES: The Bisons are now 5-3 in games the opponents have scored first in...Justin Hampson's save was the second of his professional career. He earned the first on April 21, 2011 against Rochester...Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before Thursday's series finale at Coca-Cola Field.
