Remember That Guy? The Forgotten Mets A-Z (H-I)
Kazuhisa Ishii--
-For whatever reason, I always want the Mets to sign these Japanese guys when they get posted..and I definately wanted the Mets to sign this one. Its a damn good thing I'm not the GM..The Dodgers posted big money for the dissapointing Ishii to come to the States, and if they had done their homework, they would have found out that he really wasn't all that good in Japan either. He set a Japanese Baseball record in 1998 with 20 wild pitches in one season..It turns out poor command in Japan = poor command in the States as well as Ishii struggled to throw strikes over his three years with the Dodgers. In 2005, the Mets picked up Ishii for Jason Philips..He went 3-9 for the Mets with an ERA over 5 before his release. Ishii currently pitches for the Seibu Lions.
Al Jackson--
-One of the original Mets, Jackson managed 88 losses over the first 5 seasons of his career, losing at least 15 games in all of those seasons. Not because he was neccesarily that bad..He just pitched for the Mets.. In 1966 he was traded to the Cardinals for Ken Boyer, and then traded right back the following year. He at one point held franchise records for Wins and Shutouts, which were easily broken by some Seaver guy..
