St. Lucie 2. Palm Beach 0

The Palm Beach Cardinals (4-5) dropped their second consecutive game on Saturday night, as they fell to the St. Lucie Mets (7-2), 2-0. For the home standing Cardinals it was another tough night at the dish as they were stymied for the tune of one run on six hits.

However, things did not start off slow, as the first three batters of the game got on base via the single. Mike O'Neill, Picky Elkins and Starling Rodriguez loaded the bases with no one out. Left fielder Chris Edmondson took the next offering from Johan Almont and smacked it to deep right field, but with a gusting wind brought the ball back in front of the warning track for a sacrifice fly.

After giving up three early singles and sacrifice fly, Almont settled downed and got the next two batters to end the frame. Facing an early deficit, St. Lucie delivered in the next frame when Wilfred Tovar lined a single up the middle to bring in Cory Vaughn. Palm Beach starter Chris Corrigan got of the jam by getting Alonzo Harris to groundout.

After that the game stayed stagnant until the fifth inning. In the middle inning, the Mets took the lead on a sacrifice fly ball by Wilmer Flores, who brought in Robbie Shields. The reliever Logan Bill rough, was relieved shortly after by Aidan Lucas, who went on to throw 2.1 innings of scoreless ball, while striking out five. Lucas did not allow a single runner to reach base and kept the Cardinals within one run.

However, the Cardinals would not answer as they barely got a runner past second from the fifth inning on. Relievers Taylor Whitenton and Jeffrey Kaplan shut down the offense to end the game. Almont who struggled in his first outing got the win, while Bill rough got the loss.

Offensively, the Cardinals were led by Mike O'Neill, who stole a base and scored the Cardinals lone run, while six other hitters had one hit on the night
