SP Dylan Owen to
the bump on Memorial Day. This kid just never got his chance in Queens. The guy’s
43-37, 4.18, 1.35 in 144 minor league games, 106 of which he has started. He’s
pitched a no-hitter a few years ago and many of us thought he was way ahead of “the
other Dylan” (Dillon Gee) when they both came to the Mets. Owen hasn’t even
been able to hold onto a minor league rotational spot these past few years and,
I’m telling you, he hasn’t done enough bad to be treated like this.
Today, he didn’t give
up his first hit until the 5th inning. ERA down to 2.88. Nice job,
Dylan.
Ex-Met OF Ezequiel Carrera (.247)
led off for Columbus. Zeek last played for the Mets in 2008 (St. Lucie - .263).
Was part of a 12 player trade with Seattle. Batted .243 in the majors last year
for Cleveland.
If I typed here that Manny Acosta pitched lousy again and Elvin Ramirez threw another scoreless inning today, do
you think things will happen before this goes to print tomorrow morning?
Update - P Chris Schwinden and SS Omar Quintanilla were called up to the Mets after the Buffalo game
P Deck McGuire had a perfect
game going for five innings, which was broken up when he hit Reese Havens, who later scored on a Scott Kazmar single.
Havens credited with an RBI when he later walked. He can’t
hit worth a shit this year, but he’s been pretty productive this game.
