We are starting to separate the wheat from the chaff. Buffalo may be in first place, but they are being led by a bunch of retreads, not prospects. The Mets must balance the needs of the organization against the desires of Buffalo ownership.
SP Collin
McHugh, C Juan Centeno, and 3B Jefry Marte need to be considered for movement to AAA.
It may seem premature for Marte, but he is being pushed from Wilmer Flores at St. Lucie.
RP John
Church, 1B Eric Campbell, OF Cory Vaughn, and 3B Flores need to be promoted from
Lucy to the B-Mets.
And lastly, SP Alex Panteliodis, RP Jack
Leathersich, and OF Travis Taijeron are
men among boys in A-ball.
Deolis Guerra is now 3-0 and has allowed just 1ER in 19.1IP this season between AA and
AAA.
AAA-Buffalo:
The team was off on Sunday…
AA-Binghamton:
Another great pitching performance, this time by Greg Peavey – 7.0-IP, 4-H, 0-ER, 3-K, 1-BB, 84/59… he was cleaned up by a pretty decent developing reliever, Armando Rodriguez (2.0-IP, 0-H, 0.95)… 2B Reese Havens has come back to earth (.227), LF Pedro Zapata (.232) was the only player with multiple hits, and 2B Josh Rodriguez (.280) had an .600 OBP today with a single and two walks.

Game one was a 5-3 loss to Dunedin… only
three hits for the ice cold Lucy… SP Chase Huchingson’s
worst outing of the season – 5.0-IP, 7-H, 5-ER, 4-BB… John Church mopped up well and continues to make a
case for a promotion…
Game two was interesting… ex-starter,
Kyle Allen (0.00), err… started. 4.1-IP, 0-R,
3-K, 0-BB… now what?
The Mets won 8-0 and Cory Vaughn didn’t hit a home run. Go figure. Cesar Puello is up to .293

SP Rafael
Montero was effective (5.0-IP, 2-ER, 3-K, 2-BB, 3.58), but not
spectacular….
Had a nice talk before the game with Frank Viola…
there are currently no more “piggybacks” going on; however one may
develop when Logan Verrett comes back from the
IR… we talked about the “magical” way Domingo Tapia has
pitched, including a 90-MPH change-up the other night… Viola also gushed about
SP Jacob deGrom who has remained in extended so
far this season. Said he “sits 95-97”.
Mack, throw in TJ Rivera as well in the promotions ring. The problem is there is no where to put him since St. Lucie has Muno, Tovar and Shields and Binghamtown has twice the mi's there.
ReplyDeleteI know they usually wait until the halfway mark for promotions, but some guys are making it difficult on them right now.
Brandon Brown has earned himself more AB's in Savannah and they can add Evans, Zurcher or Tijerina there, although I think they want to hold Evans & Nimmo for Brooklyn to give them a taste of NY and motivate them to get back to playing in NYC.
I thought was the plan all along, including for Fulmer to bring those 3 HS's up together, but when Fulmer got the bump to Savannah, I was surprised honestly. It looks like he's holding his own there, but I'm sure he'll be shut down by the end of July, early August when get gets to 120 innings or so.
There's a lot of people blocked right now... 3B is a dead zone and 2B is close.
ReplyDeleteI talked with Brown in the dugout yesterday and asked him if he was happy so far with his start... he said he won't be happy until he's hitting .400. Love the attitude.
Closer, there are only three pitchers on the board right now... Harvey in 2013... Wheeler in 2014... and Fulmer in 2015... the money is behind them and they come first
