Mack and Company - Ike

Mack - Ike Davis said Terry Collins told him he will NOT be demoted to minors. Mets will let him work out his issues in the majors. Good idea? Bad news? Bueller?

Anthony Carnacchio - I'm a big believe in Ike still. This whole situation is a double edged sword; risk him performing poorly for the rest of the year at the MLB level or killing his confidence entirely by sending him down to AAA. If he is going to be up here, he needs to play. He needs to play against lefties and righties. Personally, as a left-handed hitter myself and having seen some of the same struggles, he needs to see southpaws in order to prevent him from flying out and helping him drive the ball to left field. Seeing and succeeding against a tough lefty will help him immensely.

Reese Kaplan - Personally I think he could use a few weeks out of the spotlight to get his game back together.  He's looking lost out there -- worse than Bay

Art Scott - This may be worse news for Ike Davis than people think.  I believe Ike needs to work on some things down in AAA to become the hitter he used to be.  Something about him has changed drastically, and experimenting up in the majors is NOT the place to figure out what's wrong.  If Ike isn't given the chance to go down to AAA and figure out what's wrong, he might just work his way out of baseball.  I mean, we're not talking about one month of baseball anymore.  We're talking going into June, and there are pitchers with better OPS' than Ike.  That's not a small problem, that's a major disaster.  Of course, Collins isn't the one who makes the decisions, so we can't know for certain one way or another.  I believe for certain the Mets would be best served by sending Ike down until he proves he can hit again, and once he does, bring him back up immediately.  I mean, even Jason Bay's few seasons with the Mets haven't been as bad as Ike is going right now.  Have mercy!!!
