  1. Wow....not the guy i expected them to put on waivers. Thought for sure it would be Egbert.

Why do I get the feeling that someone amongst the Padres, Twins, A's, Cubs, Astros or the Mariners are going to claim him.

  3. I think they did it as a kindness to Schwinden. He's done in NY so maybe he can get another shot in Oakland or Minnesota. He was done sooner or later - there are more cuts coming once the Mejia and Young situations resolve. Egbert is not long for his roster spot either.

Plus, I assume they have plans to move up some more promising pitchers such as Wheeler.

  4. They did it as a kindness to Schwinden. I guess he'll latch on with a team like Minnesota or Oakland. Anyway, he was gone once the Young or Mejia situations resolve. Better to set him loose now. Perhaps the Mets are also thinking of advancing Wheeler or someone else.

  5. I just talked to Adam Rubin....this was a STRAIGHT UP waiver placement by the Mets. NOT a Designation for Assignment.

Knowing this I am confused as to why the Mets are basically openly allowing any team to swoop in a steal him from us. Would've made more sense to DFA him and see if anyone would be interested in a low key trade.
