NEWS FLASH: According to ESPN New York's Adam Rubin, it was RAMON Ramirez, NOT Elvin, who was injured in the celebration. More on this story later as we know more about his medical condition (and Mike Baxter's, too!)
...and yet, without their contributions, unexpected as it may be, the Mets are not tied for second place. They represent the difference between the Met teams of recent vintage, who couldn't find even reasonably adequate players to fill out the roster when injuries struck. There may not be any all-stars in this bunch, but here's to the role players who have kept us in this thing so far...
I thought I'd be putting a pic of Elvin Ramirez into this collage when it came to me last night...and now, of course, we all know that he is on the DL from celebrating last night's No-Hitter. Yes, you read that right, and I STILL can't believe it...ONLY this team!!
So here's to you, Mike Baxter, Jeremy Hefner, Mike Nickeas, Jack Egbert, Vinny Rottino and Omar Quintanilla - all but Egbert have contributed to victories; Baxter is probably the only one with a chance of staying with the team the rest of the way, once he comes off the DL after last night's amazing catch; all will always be able to call themselves a MET!!
according to Adam Rubin it was ramon ramirez who was injured to Elvin
