Bisons' 10-Run Louisville

The Buffalo Bisons hit their way out of a six-game losing streak with the big bats of Josh Rodriguez and Zach Lutz providing most of the damage.

The two Herd infielders combined to drive in eight of the team's 10 runs in a 10-7 victory over the Bats on Thursday night at Louisville Slugger Field. Buffalo combined for 15 hits. 12 coming from the top four spots in the batting order.
Lutz struck first, hitting a two-run home run in the top of the first inning to give the Herd an early lead. Two innings later and with the Bisons trailing 4-2, Rodriguez evened the score when he plated a pair of runners with the first of three doubles on the night. Lutz followed with a single to drive in his teammate for the 5-4 advantage. Buffalo never trailed again.

Buffalo added insurance late in the contest. Rodriguez doubled to kick off a two-run seventh inning. His third double of the night an inning later plated three more runs to put the Bisons in double-digits.

Overall, Rodriguez finished 3-5 with five RBI and two runs scored. Lutz was 3-3 at the plate with three RBI and two walks.

All the offensive support went to the benefit of Gonzalez Germen in his Buffalo and Triple-A debut. The righty allowed four runs in his first two innings of work, but then held the Bats off the scoreboard for five more frames. Overall, he struck out three and walked just two batters.

Germen was promoted just prior to the game to fill the spot opened by Matt Harvey's big league debut in Arizona on Thursday night.

BISONS NOTES: Lucas Duda went 0-4 with a walk in his first game with the Bisons since being optioned by the Mets...Fred Lewis went 4-4 with a walk and three runs scored in the leadoff spot for the Herd. The performance raised his season average to .298...Mike Baxter went 2-5 in his fourth rehab start with the Bisons. He's hitting .438 in Buffalo.
