I May Be Wrong, But… Trading Murph, Starter Mejia v3.0, 14 Bisons Pitchers, Writers, 2013 Draft

1.     According to John Harper of the New York Daily News, the New York Mets turned down a trade with the San Diego Padres for Daniel Murphy. The Mets were supposedly offered 28-yr. old relief pitcher Luke Gregerson.

Gregerson is 2-0 with a 3.05 ERA in 48 appearances this season. He has given up 15 runs on 39 hits in 44 1/3 innings pitched with 13 walks and 47 strike outs. If true, this tells me one thing. The Mets have thrown in the towel and would rather take their time shopping either their players around, or looking for future pen members. Look, if the team went 12-1 in the next 13 games, they’d only be back to where they were and would still be out of the wild card slot. It’s not going to happen so there is no rush to sell Murph to a National League rival. You’ll get more for him next week, or in the off-season, from an American League club.

2.     Jenrry Mejia has been placed back in the Buffalo rotation, after pitching out of the bullpen, after being in the rotation, after pitching out of the pen, after being in the rotation. Oh yeah, DePo said it is most likely that he will return to the pen. Any questions whether or not things are going well in the organization? Yesterday, they signed a first baseman and assigned him to Brooklyn… as a pitcher. I’m thinking of sending them some of my Depekote in the mail. IMO, this probably is just being done so Jenrry gets more pitches to work on his command issues. Or is it showcasing for a trade, either his, or one of the current rotation members. Who the fuck knows right now with these guys.

3.     As of 9:20pm Thursday, the Buffalo rotation was Jeurys Familia, Jenrry Mejia, Collin McHugh, Chris Schwinden, Garrett Olsen, Dylan Owen, and Germen Gonzalez. There are also seven active relievers on the team. Something's got to give here...
4.     The writer pool continues to swirl. Mike Friere has returned for a series on the Mets and, hopefully, he will stick around past that. Gary Seagren will join the staff as soon as his vacation is over. And Dr. Art Scott exits after some wonderful work. I need all the help I can get around here, so if you’d like to write… or… if you’d like to return… please email me at: macksmets@gmail.com.
5.     I’m working on nine interviews with some of the top catchers in the upcoming 2013 draft and I  should have the first of them up tomorrow. Email me if you have an particular player you’d like me to research or talk to. That’s macksmets@gmail.com .

  1. Just when u think that their player development is getting much better, you get a blockage in the AAA rotation, Batista's a Brave and Mejia is a starter/reliever/hot dog vendor...thought this was going to stop once Omar and company left...

  5. No, I can't find the interview. There seems to be a bunch of Stephen's work missing. As I mentioned in the past, someone or something has gone snafu on the site and we don't have an IT guy here anymore to check it out and clean it up.

I'm deeply sorry. It was a great interview.
