Mack Profle - OF – Jordany Valdespin

   Yeah, Jordany Valdespin.

Yes, I still hate his approach to the game, but I never hated his game. He just may be the best… no… he actual IS the best outfielder in the organization.

Valdespin was signed by the Mets in 2008. Omar Minaya decided not to play him in his native country of the Dominican Republic, and sent him directly to the GCL Mets (20-yrs. Old - .284/.319/.440/760).

Most of the following year was spent in Savannah (.322/.366/.480/846) and you are starting to see a pattern here. Valdespin can hit.

In 2010, it was St. Lucie (.289/.323/.437/760), Binghamton last year (.297/

.341/.483/824), and Buffalo this year (.289/.324/.430/754) until he was called to Queens (.286/.316/.560/876).

Did you check out the stats? There isn’t one hiccup. And, you know what? These aren’t his best tools. He flies like an eagle and throws with the speed and intensity of legends like Roberto Clemente

My comparison early on was Ernie Banks, but that was when he was in infielder. He’s moved on to the outfield when the Mets ran out of warm bodies to play at Citi Field.

He’s already in the Mets record book. His 5th pinch-hit home run last night ties him for the most in  franchise history.

I’m going to start over here.

Let’s leave the ‘personality development’ to the Mets. There have been some great players in this game whose talents were fueled by their egos. Valdespin won’t change, but maybe he can mature.

I’ve now listed him as the 2013 starting RFer come spring. I’m going to play Jason Bay (still the best outfielder the Mets have in the system regardless to his lack of pre-Mets production), which leaves us only centerfield to figure out.
