Stuff – Adrian Gonzalez, Terry Collins, LA-Boston Deal, Rule Five Eligible, Bullpen Management

Adrian Gonzalez
The awarding of the waiver claim on Adrian Gonzalez to the Los Angeles Dodgers is just one more example of how a new, positive, money rich owner can turn around a baseball team in less than one year. The Dodgers are doing everything they can humanly do to make the playoffs this year, but the worst they are going to come out of all this is a killer team next year. You just wait for the off season. You’ve see nothing yet!
Terry Collins
I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but one must start to wonder if this team has quit on TC and a change for next year would be the way to go. You could finish this season with Tim Teufel holding the fort down, take 3-4 months to shop around, and rid the roster of everyone who has no future on this team. Promote your prospects come Oct 2 and have some fun for a month. An option.
LA-Boston Deal

Taking the Adrian Gonzalez portion of this post that was obviously written earlier than this portion, I’m writing this at a time before any confirmation of the blockbuster deal that is floating around the internet, but you have to give credit to these two teams. One (Boston) is willing to admit out front that they need to rebuild, and the other (LAD) are telling their fans that they are ‘all in’ for the playoffs. I miss rooting for a team like this.
Rule Five Eligible Players

P – Mark Cohoon, Collin McHugh, Dylan Owen, Darin Gorski, Brad Holt, Armondo Rodriguez, Zack Wheeler, Taylor Whitenton, Marcos Camerena, Luis Cessa

OF – Alonzo Harris
Bullpen Management
Adam Rubin made a very good point Friday night about using Josh Edgin five out of the last six games. What happened to the long man practice? Why can’t someone like Chris Schwinden be on this staff and send Josh back to AAA until September? Schwinny can give you 3-4 innings every four days, especially in games against blockbuster teams like Colorado and Houston. What exactly is Terry trying to do here? Do you want a young arm to come up dead or injured. God, I wish this season would end.

  2. I don't know. He can be quite the handful and I'm not sure he could handle the NY press/fans.

They really need a Davey Johnson type.

    I'll take Tony LaRussa.
