B.J. Upton has met with Philadelphia and Atlanta representatives this week and continues to be a well sought after target. He is said to be the Braves "top free-agent target" according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman. The two NL East so far are the only teams vying for the OF so far that I have seen.
(Many fans I know have been clamoring for the front office to use the little money we have on Upton but lets get real people.....with the Phillies and the Braves in on him and Michael Bourn expecting to be the more expensive option [thus Upton waiting till he signs before negotiating himself] this will be a drawn out and expensive CF to get.)
(Well in the event that the Mets do end up dealing David Wright, here is one team that could be a potential partner. I can see the Mets taking a crack at asking for OF Jared Mitchell)
The Toronto Blue Jays don't seem to be content even after their mega-deal with the Marlins. According to Ken Rosenthal the team "still needs and wants one more starter."
(And here is a candidate should R.A. Dickey be traded. Travis D'Arnaud immediately comes up in any ideas for a trade but after shipping all those youngsters to Miami I'm not sure how much is left.)
Toronto now has three starting MLB catchers. Frankly, two of them, not one, have to be moved.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is they don't need a starter anymore.
