At an early first glance, it appears to be a pitching heavy draft. If that is the case, I think the Mets should draft another pitcher rather than reaching for a hitter. If a hitter such as Bryant, Frazier, or Meadows were to fall, the Mets should pounce. If not, the Mets should go ahead, draft another premium starter and add him to their crop of promising arms
ReplyDeleteJohn, there are so many in the pipeline... are you ure you want to do this?
ReplyDelete2016 alone could be Harvey
Wheeler
Niese
Syndergaard
Gee
Montero
Fulmer
Mateo
Mejia
Tapia
deGrom
Verrett... and that's not counting the Brooklyn kids
I think there is enough here to find 5 great ones by then
I think that I would. Especially in baseball, with it being such a crap shoot in the draft, teams have to take the best talent available. It takes majority of the players years to make it to the majors and I am not a fan of drafting to fill a need. While it did not work out for McPhail in Baltimore, his grow the arms, buy the bats system allowed them the chance to make a surprise run last season. I am not opposed to drafting a hitter by any means, I just want to see the Mets take the best player available on their board.
ReplyDeletewell, if they all work out, you will have quite the group of trade bait
ReplyDeleteVery true and pitching is always in demand, either by the Mets or another team. Although while fun, it is far to early to even discuss draft prospects in depth right now with the season to be played.
ReplyDeleteYou know what... it's too early to discuss who the team drafted in either 2012 or 2011.
ReplyDeleteI agree, despite the reports on Nimmo, Fulmer, Cecchini, Plaweki, and anyone in between being good or bad, it is tough to rate someone on one or a half season of professional baseball. All we can hope for, as fans, is that these players are properly developed and coached to be successful major league pieces.
