#18 OF Vicente Lupo
Bats: R Throws: R
Height: 6' 0" Weight: 180 lb
Acquired: 2010 international signing, Venezuela
Dominican Summer League
2012: .343/.500/.608, 10 HR, 45 RBI, 12 SB (63%), 46 BB, 45 K
2011: .197/.325/.379, 5 HR, 13 RBI, 5 SB (100%), 23 BB, 59 K

Lupo's name is one that has only recently begun circulated the prospect world as his 2012 DSL statistics left many highly impressed and foaming at the mouth for what could be amazing future potential. At age 18, he showcased ridiculous amounts of power, good patience at the plate, and all around good raw hitting ability. He also flashed some decent speed but as he fills out he'll probably have to move to a corner OF spot where the development of his bat will be key to his growth and MLB future.Definitely someone to get excited about but until he reaches Full Season baseball we will curb our enthusiasm.

Anticipated Assignment: (R) Gulf Coast League Mets starting OF

  2. In retrospect, it's impossible to categorize a DSL player as a prospect. It's like saying a high school junior is one of your top players.

I went back and looked at the guys that led the DSL in BA over the last ten years and most are washing cars somewhere now.

I know I voted for this guy, but it's far too early.
