2012 was not a good season for Cesar Puello. The once highly regarded "5 tool" OF has hit a wall since getting to Port St. Lucie and now has injury concerns attached to his name. Although is Isolated Power was a career high .163 and his SB success rating was a career high 90%; his K rate jumped up to 28% and his BB rate fell to a career low 2.8%. The Mets decision to move him to CF which will maintain his value, as a prospect for now as his above average glove, range, and arm play well there, for now but with Brandon Nimmo on his heels, Puello will need to start fast in 2013 and earn a promotion or else he'll fall behind on the OF prospect depth chart.
Anticipated Assignment: (AA) Binghamton starting CF
I continue to believe in Cesar Puello and I'd like to think of 2012 as just a bad year.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that still scares me is how poorly he also played in winter ball.
Boy, we sure could use some good news about a Mets outfieder...
