B-Mets Suspended in Erie

Series Finale Suspended in Erie

ERIE, PA – The Binghamton Mets and Erie SeaWolves played into the bottom of the fourth inning before rain suspended play on Wednesday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park. The game, which was halted with Binghamton leading 1-0, will be completed on August 9th.

After rain and fog delayed the start of the game for 87 minutes, the B-Mets teed off on Erie starter Patrick Cooper, but had nothing to show for it through three innings. Binghamton racked up five hits and two walks, but stranded six men on base in three scoreless frames.

Binghamton finally cracked the scoreboard with a two outs in the fourth. After Danny Muno walked and took second on a wild pitch, Alonzo Harris dumped an RBI single into left field, giving the B-Mets a 1-0 lead. The hit extended Harris season-opening hitting streak to six games.

Cory Mazzoni cruised through his first three innings, facing the minimum. With rain falling down in the fourth he issued a four-pitch walk to Jamie Johnson and surrendered a single to Hernan Perez. He worked the count to 1-1 on Tyler Collins before the umpiring crew requested the tarp be placed on the field.

Officials waited through an additional delay before officially suspending the contest.

The B-Mets (4-2) return to the Southern Tier for their home opener Thursday night against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 6:35 PM. RHP Logan Verrett gets the ball for Binghamton against RHP Deck McGuire. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame Show begins at 6:20 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
