Draft 13 – Stephen Wrenn, Andrew Thurman, Jonathan Villar, Bobby Wahl, Jacob Brentz, A.J. Puk

Stephen Wrenn, OF, Walton HS (GA) - A 6’-2” right-hander with great speed, pop in his bat and an advanced approach at the plate, Wrenn is hitting .515 over 23 games with 13 doubles, three home runs, 24 stolen bases and has drawn 22 walks to seven strikeouts. He has also been hit by a pitch seven times for a .667 OBP/.879 SLG. A fast riser who profiles as a centerfielder and is committed to Georgia. link

UC Irvine righthander Andrew Thurman is what college coaches dream about: a player undrafted out of high school who improves every year and now has a chance to be the program’s highest-drafted player ever. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound junior has progressed nicely during his time with the Anteaters. link

After getting off to a 2-for-34 start, OKC SS Jonathan Villar is 14-for-32 (.438) in his last eight games, with six multi-hit games.

Bobby Wahl, RHP, Ole Miss - The 6’-3” right-hander was considered a possible top-20 pick coming into this year. Control problems hurt him early as he had 12 walks over his first 16.2 innings. He has, however, been able to make bats miss all season and always finds a way to get himself out of the jams he created. Over his last seven starts, he has a 0.72 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 40 K/20 BB over 50 innings, holding opponents to a .155 bating average. The stuff is there, including a mid-90s fastball with late life and a slider that looks plus at times. If he can harness the control, he is one of the best arms available in the 2013 MLB draft. link

Fast rising LHP Jacob Brentz has 18 Ks over 6 IP in Iowa Spring League. Has been hitting 97 mph this spring… 6'-6" LHP AJ Puk has 12 Ks over 4 IP in Iowa Spring League. Both he and Brentz are on the same team. Bad news for opposing hitters
