Mack Ade – Morning Report – 4-10-13

  1. Rafael Montero: 6 IP 6 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 7 K. Luis Mateo: 6.2 IP 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 9 K. Luis Cessa: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 K. Mets have pitching

Okay... everybody has a game like Gee had... let's give him this one and move on.

Rafael Montero had another outstanding outing... 6-IP, 7-K, 1-ER, 1.54... he won't last long in New York State.

We all are going to have to wait a little for Zack Wheeler. He gave up four runs again last night (though only one was earned). Still it was four run and he's still not pounding the ball and these are away games in the normal air of California.

It was nice to see some offense out of Lucy, especially from Dustin Lawley. I'm telling you, this is a big bat ust off to a bad start. It also was the Luis Mateo show (6.2-IP, 0-R, 9-K, 0.00). He continues to look like the real deal.

There doesn't seem to be anything that is going to stop 1B Jayce Boyd. In addition, C Kevin Plawecki remains on fire.

Exceptional rotational pitching… timely hitting… good defense… five runs a game…
The real good news here is David Wright and Daniel Murphy seem to be lighting it up before John Buck and Marlon Byrd’s light dims a little. This is how marginal teams make the playoffs. Great start.

The Lucy pitching staff have given up only 3-R in their first four games

.With the film on Robinson's breakthrough, "42," set to open Friday, Jackie's two good friends from the Brooklyn teams of the late '40s, Branca and Carl Erskine, spoke of how the Hall of Famer showed the racist and ignorant corners of America that the same black citizens forbidden from certain restaurants, restrooms and water fountains were just as capable as whites of being selfless, productive employees and workplace leaders. Yes, leaders. - ESPN

  1. Each time Montero and Mateo have great starts I'm giddy. Add in Mazzoni, DeGrom, Fulmer, and everyone else and I just keep seeing OF. Montero gets promoted soon, his stock goes up....same thing with Mateo. Things will get interesting once the trading season is upon us again....Duda, Murphy, Gee, Buck, Montero, Mateo, Fulmer, Valdespin...the Mets should have a lot of cards to play to reshuffle the deck.
