So far, the minor league teams
have been dominated by the young starters. Excellent starts last night by Cory
Mazzoni, Domingo Tapia, and Gabriel Ynoa. We will see more of this as all these
names establish themselves as future trade bait for young outfielders. The
system is very deep right now in young starters.
2.
It’s interesting that, after two
games, the top three hitters on the team are all catchers, Kevin Plawecki, Cam Maron, and Travis d’Arnaud. Love it.
3.
Reese Havens is
getting some limited time right now but he’s off to a fast start which is a
great thing. He still, on paper, is the mot talented second baseman in the
system.
4.
Speaking of talent, did I ever
tell you that Josh Satin can hit? Did I ever
stop telling you he can hit? Boy, does this guy deserve another team and a
chance at the majors.
5.
Jack Leathersich got
his first save last night. One inning… two strikeouts… zzzz… keep an eye on this guy. He won’t be in the
B-Mets staff for long.
6.
1B Jayce Boyd
is off to a very hot start in Savannah and we really do need a young first
base prospect in the organization. Let’s hope we have found one here.

Travis d’Arnaud looks
to be a man among boys in the Pacific League. It’s going to be hard to keep
this kid down.
Aside from Wheeler, the starters have been awesome. Great to see.
ReplyDeleteThis ML bullpen looks like it sure could use a guy like Leathersich mid-season.
Will be interesting to see what happens with d'arnaud if buck keeps hitting well. Might have a nice trade chip there.
- I hope Mazzoni and at least one other arm is ready for the MLB bullpen this season. Then the Mets could shop a reliever or two at the deadline.
ReplyDelete- I agree, I hope our catchers can keep this up, Buck included. Having a young stud catcher in the majors makes almost all the other catchers in the organization expendable for trades.
- Reese was always my favorite from the 2008 draft. I've written him off and I'm not getting my hopes up...but it would be great if he could still reach his ceiling.
- Here's hoping the pitching can sustain its success and that Wheeler gets his shit together.
