Mets Minor League Report – April 17

Savannah wallops Greensboro 8-1
In a 6 run third inning, the Beach Buggies brought 10 men to the plate. After the first two men that came to bat struck out, the fireworks began with a Brandon Nimmo single followed by 3 consecutive walks and then 3 hits before Jeff Reynolds groung out ended it.
Matt Bowman (W, 2-0) excelled, going 5.1 innings with 1 ER on 4 H and 1 BB and 5 Ks.
The Gnats pen came through once again, with Beck Wheeler and Tim Peterson holding the Grasshoppers hitless over the final 3.2 innings. Wheeler struck out 4 in his 2.2 innings and Peterson, pitching the 9th , struck out one. Neither one gave up so much as a walk.
Eudy Pina was the offensive star, going 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI.
Brandon Nimmo continued his hot hitting with a 2-5, although that lowered his AVG. to .442.
Greg Pron went 2-3 with a 2B and 3 RBI.

Charlotte tops St. Lucie 5-2
Marcos Camerena (L, 0-1) faltered in his 5.0 inning stint, allowing 4 ER on 3 BB and 6 H, one of them a HR.
Pedro Feliciano and Frank Francisco each pitched a perfect inning in their rehab appearances. Pedro struck out 2 while Frankie K’d one.
Not much to say offensively, as Grasshopper hurlers struck out 11 mets. Albert Cordero went 2-3 with an RBI, and Aderlin Rodriguez hit his 2nd home run of the season, going 1-4. Cam Maron, Matt Reynolds and Travis Taijeron each had 1 hit in the losing effort.

Portland edges Binghamton 1-0
Jacob deGrom (L, 0-1) lost a heartbreaker, allowing only 1 ER on 3 hits and a walk, striking out 8 in 8.0 innings.
Darrell Ceciliani went 2-4, and Alonzo Harris, Allan Dykstra, Blake Forsythe and Wilfredo Tovar each had a hit, accounting for all of the Mets offense.

Sacramento @ Las Vegas is in progress

The 51s rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the River Cats, 3-2, on Wednesday evening at Cashman Field. Shortstop Omar Quintanilla delivered a walk-off, RBI single to center field, with one out to score first baseman Eric Campbell, who doubled with one out, to set up the winning run.
