LAST GAME: The B-Mets scored four runs in the fourth inning on their way to defeating New Britain, 8-3, Wednesday night. The Rock Cats struck first against Erik Goeddel. In the second inning, he allowed three hits and a bases-loaded walk as New Britain took an early 2-0 lead. Alex Meyerheld the B-Met offense at bay through three innings, but faltered in the fourth. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Blake Forsythe scored the first run on a sacrifice fly. A defensive misplay tied the game at 2, and Binghamton took the lead with RBI singles by Wilfredo Tovar and Josh Rodriguez. The offense put the game out of reach by scoring four more runs over the final three innings. Dykstra provided an RBI single in the seventh, and Danny Muno added another RBI single in the eighth. The final run came home on a bases-loaded walk to Rodriguez in the ninth. Goeddel earned his fourth win of the season, and the B-Mets have now won each of his last six starts.

BINGHAMTON STARTING PITCHER: LHP Mark Cohoon pitches in his ninth game of the season, and his fifth as a starter for the B-Mets. He is 3-1 with a 3.96 ERA in 2013, and is 1-1 as a starter. He received a no-decision in his last start, 5/18 @ POR. Cohoon allowed four runs on eight hits over 5.0 innings on the mound. The lefty has struck out at least five in each of his last three starts. Opponents are batting .350 against him this season. 2013 is Cohoon’s fourth consecutive season with the B-Mets. He has been a member of the starting rotation in every previous season of his minor league career.

NEW BRITAIN STARTING PITCHER: LHP Logan Darnell makes his tenth start of the season with the Rock Cats. He has lost each of his last two starts, although he has thrown 15.0 innings in those games. In his last start, he gave up one run over 7.0 innings and was tagged with the loss 5/18 v NH. For the season, Darnell has struck out 40 and only walked 16. Opponents are hitting .274 against the southpaw. He threw a season-high 8.0 innings in a loss to Portland 5/12. Darnell has thrown for the Rock Cats in each of the past two seasons, combining for a 12-13 record in 33 starts.

TEAM BATTING AVERAGE: Binghamton has won eight of their last ten games. During that stretch, they have hit .317 as a team, and have raised their team batting average up to .254. Before the stretch, Binghamton was ranked 11th in the league with a .235 team average. They have collected double figure hits in eight of the last ten games.

RISE AND SHINE: Thursday will be the B-Met 10:35 AM start time in 2013. They will play at this time on three occasions, all coming in the next three weeks. They will play vs. ALT on 5/23 and vs. TRN on 6/6.

SEARCHING FOR SERIES VICTORY: A win on Thursday would give Binghamton their sixth series win of the year. The B-Mets have won two straight series, and have not lost one since losing the first two games of a three-game series @ TRN 5/6 - 5/8. A win would finish out their roadtrip with a 5-2 record.

GREAT SERIES FOR RODRIGUEZ:  In the first three games of this series, Josh Rodriguez has gone 8-for-11 with two doubles, four RBI, and four runs scored. Josh is currently on a season-high eight-game hitting streak. During that stretch he is hitting .500 (13-for-26). For the year, Rodriguez is hitting .285 with three home runs and 20 RBI.

LEFT ON BASE: Binghamton stranded 11 men on base in Wednesday’s win. This was the second straight game the B-Mets have left at least 10 men on base. This season, they have only done that three times.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets return home from a week-long roadtrip for two series at NYSEG Stadium. The first is a four-game set against the Portland Sea Dogs. Then they welcome in the Altoona Curve for the first time in 2013. Game 1 vs. Portland is Friday night at 7:05 PM.
