LAST GAME: Josh Rodriguez scampered home with the game-winning run on a wild pitch by Jeremy Kehrt in the bottom of the ninth as the B-Mets walked off past the Portland Sea Dogs, 6-5 Monday afternoon. The B-Mets trailed 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth before Danny Muno and Rodriguez tied the game with back-to-back RBI groundouts. Allan Dykstra gave the B-Mets the lead when he hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. He doubled home a run in the bottom of the seventh to give them a 4-2 lead, but Portland responded with a three-run eighth in the eighth inning. In the bottom half of the frame, Joe Bonfe hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game. In a 5-5 game in the bottom of the ninth, Rodriguez led off with a ground-rule double before scoring on the wild pitch. The B-Mets won the final three games of the four-game series, including two walk-off wins.

 

BINGHAMTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Erik Goeddel makes his tenth start of the season for the B-Mets. The righty has won his last three decisions, including an 8-3 win 5/22 @ NBR. In the game, he allowed two runs on five hits over 5.2 innings. In May, he is 3-0 with a 4.37 ERA in four starts. After allowing batters to hit .326 against him in April, he has limited opponents to a .238 batting average this month. Binghamton has won each of his last six starts.

ALTOONA STARTING PITCHER: RHP Casey Sadler makes his eleventh start of the season for the Curve. He has the fifth lowest ERA in the league among qualifiers, posting a 2.81 ERA in 10 starts. He received a no-decision in his last start, 5/23 @ REA. He allowed two runs on six hits over six innings in a game currently suspended, 2-2, in the eighth inning. On the road this season, Sadler is 4-0 with a 1.09 ERA. Opponents are hitting .250 against the righty. He was drafted by the Pirates in the 25th round of the 2010 draft out of Western Oklahoma State JC.

EXCITING PORTLAND SERIES: The B-Mets went 3-1 in their four-game series against Portland. Binghamton won two games in walk-off fashion. Three of the four games were decided by one run, including one extra inning game. With the win on Monday, Binghamton is now tied with Portland for the Eastern Division lead.

PROBLEMS WITH RISP: Despite Binghamton winning their last three games, they are 0-for-29 with RISP during that stretch. In the Portland series, they went a combined 3-for-45 with RISP. This season, the B-Mets are hitting .239 with RISP.

DYKSTRA GOES DEEP AGAIN: Allan Dykstra hit a home run for the second straight day on Monday. Cesar Puello hit three home runs in two games against the Trenton Thunder 5/7 - 5/8.

TAKING A LOOK AT THE CURVE: Altoona enters the series with a 20-30 record, ranking sixth in the Western Division. They play the B-Mets 15 times in 2013, with three series coming at NYSEG Stadium.

PITCHERS’ HITTING STATS: This series is the third series of the season against another National League affiliate. B-Met pitchers are hitting .154 (2-for-13) with two RBI. Tonight’s starter, Erik Goeddel, is 0-for-3 with a run scored.

LONG BALL: The B-Mets have hit at least one home run in each of the last four games. They have hit 33 in 2013, tying them for the ninth most in the league.

RODRIGUEZ’S STREAK: Josh Rodriguez went 2-for-4 on Monday, extending his season-high hitting streak to thirteen games. During the streak, he is hitting .458 (22-for-48). Six of those games have been multiple-hit games, and Rodriguez has knocked in 13 runs during that stretch.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets welcome in the Altoona Curve (PIT) for the first time in 2013 beginning on Tuesday. The first game of the series is scheduled for 6:35 PM and RHP Erik Goeddel will pitch against RHP Casey Sadler.
