MANATEES WALK-OFF IN 4-3 WIN OVER METS
VIERA, FLA. — T.J. Mittelstaedt had a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the ninth off of T.J. Chism as the Manatees defeated the Mets 4-3 on Thursday at Space Coast Stadium.
The Mets dropped three of four games in the series.
Noah Syndergaard received a no-decision despite striking out a season-high 10 batters in 6 2/3 innings while walking none. He scattered seven hits and allowed two runs.
Cameron Garfield's two-run triple to left in the sixth tied the score against Syndergaard.
Rylan Sandoval had a bases loaded two-run single to center in the top of the sixth to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.
Hamilton Bennett pitched a scoreless inning and had three strikeouts. Randy Fontanez suffered the loss as he allowed one hit and struck out two in an inning of work. Chism came on in relief with a runner at second and two outs in the ninth before allowing the game-winning hit.
The Mets will visit the Bradenton Marauders on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Jennry Mejia will make the start on a major league rehab assignment for the Mets.
