Mets Minor League Report – May 20

Savannah (25-17) bests Charleston (24-17) 5-2, moves into 1st place.
With this win the Sand Gnats took over 1st place in the Southern Division of the Sally League, ½ game over Yankee farm team Charleston.
Savannah starter Gaby Ynoa (W, 5-2) was dominant in 7.0 scoreless innings, giving up only 2 H and 2 BB, while striking out 7.
Bret Mitchell (S, 8) earned his 8th save, striking out both batters he faced to close out the 9th inning.
Cole Frenzel was 2-3 with a HR, 2 RBI and a R.

Dunedin (25-16) tops St Lucie (24-18) 4-3.
A strong outing by St. Lucie starter Matt Bowman (7.0 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 11 K) ) was wasted when reliever Randy Fontanez (L, 3-3) allowed the winning run to cross the plate in the bottom of the 9th, after the Mets had tied the game in the top of the 8th, and again in the top of the 9th.
Rylan Sandoval: 2-3, 2B, R.
Travis Taijeron: 2-4, 2B, RBI.

Binghamton (25-19) bests New Britain (20-24) 6-3.
This win moves the B-Mets into a virtual tie for 1st place in the Eastern League Eastern Division, trailing Red Sox farm team Portland Sea Dogs by .003 percentage points.
Starter Logan Verrett (W, 6-1) got the W, allowing 3 ER on 9 H, (HR) with 10 Ks in his 6.0 IP.
Reliever Adam Kolarek pitched 2.0 perfect innings to earn a hold.
Jeff Walters (S, 12) allowed a hit in an otherwise unblemished 9th inning.
Cesar Puello, hotter than a $2 pistol, continued his winning ways, going 3-4, with 2 2B, RBI, 2 R.
Allan Dykstra: 2-5, HR, 2B, 4 RBI, R.
Josh Rodriguez: 2-3, 2B, 2 BB, RBI, 2 R.

Las Vegas (20-21) @ Iowa (16-24) postponed - rain.
