Savannah starter Luis Cessa pitched well for 6.2 innings, giving up 1 R on 7 H and 2 BB, while striking out 7.
Gnats’ relievers Paul Sewald, (1.1 innings)and Bret Mitchell (2.0 innings) each held the GreenJackets scoreless, but Hunter Carnivale, (L, 0-1) in his second inning of work, allowed the 2 go-ahead runs on 4 singles, after pitching a perfect 11th inning. In his 2 innings, Carnivale struck out 4 batters.
Jayce Boyd, 3-5, and Kevin Plawecki, 2-6, batting back to back, were unable to generate the run that would have prevented extra innings.
St Lucie (28-20) wallops Bradenton (20-30) 8-2.
Starter Matt Bowman (W, 3-0) allowed 2 R on 8 H, and 1 BB, with 6 K in 7.0 IP, to earn the win.
Hamilton Bennett and Ryan Fraser each pitched a perfect inning of relief, to sew up the win.
Dustin Lawley went 3-5 with a 2B, RBI, R.

Starter Rafael Montero, (W, 5-3) shows why he is so highly regarded, pitching 6 scoreless innings, 4 H, 2 BB, with 8 K.
Reliever Chase Hutchingson pitched 2 perfect innings. Jack Leathersich pitched the 9th, giving a BB and striking out 2. Leather now has 40 K in 22.2 IP.

Allan Dykstra: 1-3, HR, BB, RBI, R.
Las Vegas (23-25) thrashes Salt Lake(24-27) 13-9.
The 51’s pounded out 16 hits to the Bees’ 10 in this slugfest.
Greg Peavey (W, 3-2) got the win, despite giving up 3 R on 2 H and 2 BB, striking out 2 in 2.1 innings. Starter D.J. Mitchell got bombed, allowing 4 R on 5 H (HR) and 1 BB, in 2.2 innings before being removed. Justin Hampson pitched well in relief, allowing only 1 BB while striking out 3 in 1.2 innings. Josh Edgin faltered again, allowing a run on 2 hits, pitching the 9th. Pitching in Las Vegas can’t be much of a confidence builder for Josh.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis homered again for the 51’s, going 1-5 with 2 RBI.
Josh Satin also homered again. He was 2-4 with a BB, 2 RBI, and 2 R.
Omar Quintanilla had a 4-4 day with a HR, BB, 3 RBI, and 2 R.
Collin Cowgill went 2-5 with a 2B, 2 R, SB.
Francisco Pena is off to a good start since his promotion to AAA Las Vegas. Today he went 2-5 with a 2B, 2 RBI, R. His AVG. stands at .348 in a small sample 23 Abs.

Jamie Hoffmann: 2-4, BB, 3 R.
I probably gave up on Frankie Pena 5-6 times over his minor league career.

Look at what he did tonight. I think the high desert air can rejuvenate some players. It may just be a mirage, though.
