Draft coverage has been great guys. Looking forward to some play by play leading up to the Mets' pick.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us Justin.
ReplyDeleteReally hoping Austin Meadows falls to us at #11.
If not Aaron Judge is the guy i want
Meadows would be fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that Wheeler countdown threw me for a loop. Looked official :)
Hey guys... Mack is in the house.
ReplyDeleteHey fellas. Back from purgatory. Looking forward to the draft coverage tonight!
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm hearing the the Astros are still talking to 4-5 players, but my 'educated' guess is they will go with Mark Appel at a slight discount
ReplyDeleteda Rammy man....
ReplyDeleteI'm saying Jon Gray. At a discount.
ReplyDeleteI feel like this is Christmas morning for Mack's Mets. haha.
ReplyDeleteMack! Good to see you again. Man, it's been a rough time in life but glad to be back!
ReplyDeletealso... Royals and Phil Bickford are a "done deal" per Gammons
ReplyDeletemy wished are #11 - Meadows, #48 Wahl
ReplyDeleteIf Smith or Meadows are still at 11, who would you guys go with?
ReplyDeletemeadows
ReplyDeletei dont want judge
ReplyDeleteMeadows hands down
ReplyDeleteRammy, Meadows... he's a legend in Georgia
ReplyDeleteI am hoping Meadows, Smith, Judge, Peterson in that order.
ReplyDeleteWould Bickford be considered a bit of a reach for the Royals at 8?
ReplyDeleteI am so pumped about the draft!!!
ReplyDeletewould this be a good time to discuss the pros and cons of gays marrying?
ReplyDeleteThe Astros are on the clock!!!!
ReplyDeleteJustin:
ReplyDeleteYes it is but the deal is done and may be $3mil
Keith Law just said Appel to Houston
ReplyDelete(I need to get this site off of Blogger...)
ReplyDeleteSeeing as how I just came back from a Jewish Lesbian wedding with a lesbian rabbi.....probably not lol
ReplyDeleteEven the opening comments are late.
ReplyDeleteSelig always looks like a hot mess
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me when they showed that shot of the Houston draft room... there are ALL the scouts with their suits and ties on and there are t least 5-6 major showcases going on right now around the USA that they should be at evaluating 2014-2015 talent... instead, suits and ties for all, martinis later.
ReplyDeleteJohn Manuel and Ben Badler says Astros is Appel
ReplyDeleteAfter a years long work....they deserve it lol
ReplyDeleteAppel it is!
ReplyDeleteHe was the best player in the draft - it was the right move
ReplyDeleteI'm going out on the limb here and say that the drug test cost Gray the #2 pick... my pick is Bryant to the Cubs
ReplyDeletefour and a half minutes seems excessive...
ReplyDeleteCubs stalling!
ReplyDeleteYea that was a bit weird.
ReplyDeleteGot that one :)
ReplyDeleteNice call Mack!
ReplyDeleteWow.....passed on Gray.
ReplyDeleteRockies will pick Dominic Smith
ReplyDeleteThat Adderall thing must've hurt him huh
ReplyDeleteNo way. I still don't believe Dom Smith goes in the top 10 picks.
ReplyDeletethanks Rammy
ReplyDeletestrangly, the Adderall should have made him a cheaper pick
ReplyDeletetold ya it would be Gray :)
ReplyDeleteYou said Smith
ReplyDelete-_-
No way Rockies could resist passing on him.
ReplyDeleteGray is a steal there. Nice pick. I thought the Rockies would go with pitching, I just didn't think Gray would be there.
ReplyDelete#4 to the Twins...I'm thinking Kohl Stewart
I think Colin Moran.
ReplyDeleteNow I would just be guessing...
ReplyDeleteGood call Stephen
ReplyDeleteMoran at 5 is my guess
ReplyDeleteone of my 'target' guys is Ryne Stanek and having 3 RHPs already gone at this point doesn't look good for my wants and needs
ReplyDeleteFinally got in!
ReplyDeleteHey Gary!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Gary!
ReplyDelete#5 I could see Colin Moran as well.
ReplyDeleteI think the next two picks will be Frazier and Moran (in no particular order) and then we might have a few surprises...
ReplyDeleteHey Gary... welcome
ReplyDeleteso we're all waiting for the upset pick
ReplyDeletewell....Gray dropped 2 spots...that was a small surprise.
ReplyDeleteFrazier here i think.
hey guys its Mack and Sue's anniversary tomorrow wish him a good one
ReplyDeletegood pick... watch for Moran and Shipley next two picks
ReplyDeleteDAMN. I wanted Frazier.
ReplyDeleteFrazier was never going to drop down to #11
ReplyDeleteit's following the plan to have Meadows available at #11...
ReplyDeleteShipley to Miami next in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteShipley to Miami makes a lot of sense.
ReplyDeleteMack,
ReplyDeleteMiami would be the biggest risk to Meadows NOT falling to us....so hopefully he falls through
Does Miami go anglo?
ReplyDelete(I am so politically incorrect)
ReplyDeleteWow. The Marlins war room has flat screen tv's! Didn't think with all their cuts they would have those 'luxuries'
ReplyDeleteThey probably got them on loan from Rent a Center
ReplyDeleteLol@ Soto
ReplyDeletehey Mack have you heard anything on trading picks in the future
ReplyDeleteWow....wasnt expecting a college pick here.
ReplyDeleteWas sure they were going HS since they wont be playoff caliber for a while.
Meadows is a risk to Boston or Toronto
ReplyDeleteOkay...
ReplyDelete6 down... 4 to go before Mets pick
on the board... Meadows, Smith, Peterson, McGuire, Ball, Stanek, Shipley
@Gary
ReplyDeleteI believe Clubs can currently trade "competitive balance" picks
Mack, where do you see the #11 pick falling into your top 25?
ReplyDeleteit would be fitting that the friggin Fish are the team that'll grab Meadows ahead of us...
ReplyDeleteShipley here?
ReplyDeleteQuestion for you guys: If Reese McGuire is on the board, do you take him?
ReplyDeleteI freakin' would.
If Boston doesn't take Meadows here, we got a good shot at him
ReplyDeleteI think McGuire is going here.
ReplyDeleteIf the Royals take Bickford, we'll have some reallllyyy nice options.
ReplyDeleteDerek: right now I have D.J. Peterson
ReplyDeleteTrey Ball huh? A bit of a surprise here, but good player.
ReplyDeleteWow....that was a small reach...
ReplyDeleteMeadows looking REALLY nice right now.
Wow Ball to the Red Sox. Meadows and Peterson still on the board.
ReplyDeleteok guys if McGuire and Meadows are on the board who do they pick.....a H.S. SS lol
ReplyDeleteokay, you Meadows fans now have a real shot at him
ReplyDelete@Gary
ReplyDeleteMeadows.
We already have a Catcher of the future.
Hell I'm looking at McGuire a lot now. I don't see him getting past Pitt but crazier things have happened. I thought he had a good shot of being a top 5 pick.
ReplyDeleteSoto...you do not draft for position in the first round.
ReplyDeleteI'm not changing my initial wants..
ReplyDeleteI'm sick of first round high school players..
I'll take Shipley, Stanek, or Peterson
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Meadows. But there is no guarantee d'Arnaud or Plawecki will make it to the Show and be healthy.
ReplyDeleteA solid hitting, defensive catcher is a hot commodity.
ReplyDeleteBickford do itttt
ReplyDeleteWAIT.....WHAT?!?!!
ReplyDeleteWho??? WOw....surprise surprise
ReplyDeleteMack, who is Hunter Dozier?
ReplyDeleteok...throw your brackets out the window
ReplyDeletewow
ReplyDeleteThis is a straight draft pool money save move.
ReplyDeleteokay, with the Dozier pick, the Mets now are guaranteed a blue chip pick... unless they want to fuck it up
ReplyDeleteTHey'll fuck it up hahaha
ReplyDeletethere's our wildcard whoopee
ReplyDeleteDePo better not blow this!
ReplyDeleteI swear if they draft J.P. Crawford or Tim Anderson I'm going to go to north jersey and slap Depo on the back of the head.
ReplyDeleteI seriously almost threw my computer out when they picked Cecchini last year. I hope that isn't the case this year
ReplyDeleteCloser - I had Dozier as the 10th ranked third baseman/shortstop in the draft... not even a first day pick... a complete surprse to me
ReplyDeleteI think the Mets pick the best player available since all eyes are on them after they didn't want to surrender the pick for Bourn
ReplyDeletescrew this up....hey guys no way we're the Mets...lol....and if they screw this up Mack will quit the team :)
ReplyDeleteGary willl tell you... I told him on the phone if the Mets go bad here, I'm becoming a nun
ReplyDeleteDePo is pissed because that was his guy!
ReplyDeleteYup, there goes Meadows!!!
ReplyDeleteSHIT!!!
ReplyDeleteWow I wanted Meadows.
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOO!!!!!
ReplyDeletesorry guys...
ReplyDeleteme?
I'd rather have all the H.S. players picked before #11 so I can say I didn't make the wrong pick...
my three college guys still on the board
ok so the Royals pulled a Cecchini so maybe we're safe
ReplyDelete"DePo is pissed because that was his guy!"
ReplyDeleteHaha...good point
ok Mack so your still good?
ReplyDeleteWow I'm really starting to like Shipley this far down. Like a lot a lot a lot.
ReplyDeleteShipley or Stanek?
ReplyDeleteShip.
ReplyDeletejust got call... told Mets looking at Renfroe
ReplyDeletemcguire here
ReplyDeletejays need a d arnaud replacement
Gary, I'm not that big on Renfroe
ReplyDeleteshould I laugh or cry that the Evil Empire has 3 picks before our second pick
ReplyDeleteBackfire, Mets on the clock......
ReplyDeleteI go McGuire here.
ReplyDeleteSo who do they pick? Who's the best available?
ReplyDeleteShip or McGuire. Can't go wrong with either. I would kill for either. Please don't mess this up.
ReplyDeletehmmm...
ReplyDeleteA lot of guys here possible.
Guys, I'm going to go and work on, and post, the Mets pick when it is called out..
ReplyDeleteI'll be back...
Mack put the gun down...tomorrow's your anniversary
ReplyDeleteBackfire = bickford , stupid autocorrect
ReplyDeleteDon't blow this DePo!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey'll blow it, they always do....
ReplyDeletelot of Dom smith chatter on twitter... BA etc.
ReplyDeleteThis for Michael Bourn.... Who will it be???
ReplyDeletegood one
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Love this guy!
ReplyDeleteSorry guys, this was my guy! Mack will tell you, I've been talking about him for months. About time!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBest available?
ReplyDeleteDefining statement about their confidence in Issac Davis.
ReplyDeleteor lack of it.
Mack can exhale now
ReplyDeleteI hope Bobby Wahl drops to us at #48
ReplyDeleteMLB comparison Todd Helton....no pressure here
ReplyDeleteDom Smith calls Mets "an incredible team" LOL.
ReplyDeleteguess a Kaminsky fall to us to much to ask for but maybe a Mack favorite in Lorenson
ReplyDelete"incredible team". LOL
ReplyDeleteHe's 17 and just experienced the most incredible moment of his life and on national tv. I'm surprised he said anything that resembled the English language. Poor kid was nervous
ReplyDeleteI do love this pick. Great bat, great glove, great character kid.
ReplyDeleteReally curious why Shipley and McGuire are falling this far.
I like the fact he is athletic enough to move to the OF. And heaven knows how much help we need there
ReplyDeleteBack
ReplyDeleteI just posted up an interview I did with Dominic around a year ago plus some info on him (scouting reports)
Wanted Meadows if we went HS. I'm a little bummed we didn't get him but I'll be rooting for Dom Smith.
ReplyDeletesorry guys - being interviewed...
ReplyDeleteSorry... I'm back... just got off with reporter in LA... very high on Smith
ReplyDeleteHigh school pure first baseman
ReplyDeletenot happy
You don't like the pick?
ReplyDeleteThread has died after the mets pick.
ReplyDeleteStephen, I think he's a great high school bat and might be the best projectable bat in the draft, but I wanted a college player that would complete the puzzle and move this team on quicker.
ReplyDeleteA pitcher like Braden Shipley would have made Queens by the end of 2014 making Syndergaard the 6th rotational pitcher... all of a sudden you can trade for all the positional players you need.
Now, we have to wait another five years and hope things don't go wrong...
I don't like it... sorry.
Id prefer Shipley but it is still a good pick in my book. Now let's hope judge or Wilson falls to 48
ReplyDeleteSoto - you still here?
ReplyDeleteAnybody still here?
ReplyDeleteI would have taken Shipley. Then probably Peterson. Smith would have been 3rd on my list.
ReplyDeleteNo wait 4th..I forgot about McGuire.
I think I'm with you..I love the pick, but he wasn't my first choice. I really really like Ship.
Mack, let me ask the question now that we have a name, where does Dom Smith slot into your 25
ReplyDeleteStephen, Shipley was NEVER suppose to drop that low... his ETA is after the 2014 ASG... or latest OD 2015... you'd have Harvey, Wheeler, Niese, Montero, Shipley... and all sorts of trade possibilties for bats...
ReplyDeletenow... wait until 2018... if he doesn't break a leg or something...
I'm really sick of this hole approach...
well, let's see if Stanek, Eades, or Whal is still around at 48
Im still here Mack,
ReplyDelete@Derek, I generally wouldn't add newly drafted guys to Top Prospect Rankings.
If I did, I'd probably start him around #18 - #22 to start.
Maybe Boldt will drop to #48
ReplyDeleteAs for too early...Is too much to start wishing for Rondon from NC State to fall to us at 3 or 4 next year?
ReplyDeleteI had Dom Smith at #13
ReplyDeleteDerek - Boldt is injured and will probably go to school
ReplyDeleteStill some really good players on the board that are falling that the Yankees are going to snatch up. Ugh
ReplyDeleteI had Dom Smith at #13 as well.
ReplyDeletea lot of high school kids going now... there will be plenty of college players for Sandy and Company to ignore at #48
ReplyDeleteI know I'm in the minority, but I really do like the Smith pick. I want you guys to just do me a favor and go back to the immediate 30 seconds after you heard the mets draft Nimmo & Cecchini in the past 2 drafts. It could be MUCH worse.
ReplyDeleteThe Nimmo pick didn't bother me. I was bummed because the Astros nabbed Springer before the Mets could. At that point I wanted Nimmo because they were hoping to get him with the pick that became Fulmer.
DeleteCecchini? I don't know what to say about that pick.
Like they did last year with their second pick?
ReplyDeleteOh...wait...
Ryan - then you are happy with a pure first baseman with a 2018 ETA - that's what you got
ReplyDeleteSoto, so where do you rank Smith Mets prospect wise?
ReplyDelete@Mack
ReplyDeletewithout seeing a single game....
#21 probably
so, late 3 first round picks... 2 in extended and one in A-ball
ReplyDeleteplayoffs in 2018, 2 years after I die
love it
correction...
ReplyDelete"last" 3 first round picks
I think Duda and Davis are traded sooner rather than later and a veteran is brought in during the offseason to hold down the fort until Smith is ready.
ReplyDeletehi again
ReplyDeleteHey gang- big shout out to Mack and my last year's Draft Partner, Stephen!!! I was driving while the Mets took Smith, and Jim Bowden said he has a "70" bat, and anyone who knows him (referring to himself) knows he NEVER gives anyone a "70". Also said great kid, great make up, incredible fielder, and has the chance to grow into a 70 power bat, too. I know everyone wanted hitting help YESTERDAY, but this was a great move, getting perhaps best pure (and long-term) hitter in the draft! I like it an awful lot, and will LOVE it if we get a good college OF bat with 2nd pick!!
ReplyDeleteDamn....there goes Judge to the Stankees.
ReplyDeletethis is like old dorm night here...
ReplyDeletewatch the Yankees now go Wilson after Judge
ReplyDeleteWilson or Manaea if both are around?
ReplyDeleteSomehow I was hoping that everyone would have amnesia and forget about Rob Kaminsky and he'd fall to the Mets in the 2nd round...of course, the Cards grabbed him- but I'm glad that the Yankees didn't get a chance at him.
ReplyDeleteFYI- Mack was the first person, last year, to talk about Philip Ervin, and I have heard so many great things about him over the past few days that I was almost hoping we'd take him but that would've been too big a reach.
Well Whitson, Manaea, Wilson, Williams, Hart, Denny, Eades all still on the board. Bet is one falls. Praying for Wilson
ReplyDeleteThere actually are some decent players still on the board and each team has a different definition of 'best player available' so the next 10 picks will be interesting.
ReplyDeleteAfter that, the draft starts to go weak.
Good names still out there... Eades, Wahl, (wild card) Covey, (wild card) Manaea, (wild card) Ziomek, Windle,
also some decent OF talent still out there... Wilson, (wild card) Boldt, Justin Williams, Lorenzen, (wild card) Abreu
ReplyDelete
