July 6th -- Brewers 7, Mets 6.
Saturday night in Milwaukee….The Mets fought back from an early 5-0 deficit, but their rally falls short, the Brewers hold off the Mets 7-6. Shaun Marcum started for the Mets and was hit hard by his former team. After 4 innings the Mets trailed 5-zip, in the Middle of the 7th the Mets had pulled to within 6-5. But Logan Schafer’s rbi double in the bottom of the 7th inning gave the Brew Crew an insurance run that lasted till the top of the 9th . Thats when Marlon Byrd went deep for his 13th homer on the year, but that’s as close as the Mets could get. Marcum got battered going 5 innings allowing 11 hits 6 runs (5 earned) he walked 1 and struck out 3. The Met rapped out 10 hits. John Buck had the hot hand on the night going 2 for 3 with this 14th homerun and 3 rbi’s . Daniel Murphy snapped a 0-12 streak going 3 for 5 with and rbi double and a run scored. Omar Quintanilla went 2 for 4, Ike Davis,in his 2nd game back from AAA, went 0 for 2 with 3 walks and has been on base 7 times in his first 2 games back with the big club. Last night’s hero Kirk Nieuwenhuis went 1 for 4. Marcum takes the loss he falls to 1-10. Yovani Gallardo gets the win he’s now 7-8. Former Met Francisco Rodriguez gave up the dinger to Byrd, but earns the save. On the campaign the Mets are now 36-48 (19-21 on the road). Sunday afternoon the Mets look to win the rubber game of the series. Jeremy Hefner (3-6 3.54) goes for the Mets. Tom Gorzelanny (1-1 2.43) goes for Milwaukee. https://www.facebook.com/MetsForum
