Mets Minor League Report – July 3

Las Vegas (45-39) shuts out Fresno (39-48) 2-0.
Giancarlo Alverado: (W, 2-0) again pitched 6.0 scoreless innings, in his 2nd start for the 51’s: 6 H, BB, 2 K. Alverado outpitched our old friend, former Met prospect Yusmeiro Petit, who did well, but not well enough.
Jack (the K man) Leathersich kept rolling: 2.0 IP, 0 R, H, 0 BB, 4 K.
Justin Hampson (S, 1) earned his 1st save, getting the final 2 outs in the 9th.
Ike Davis: 3-4, HR, 2B, RBI, R. Josh Satin may be just the motivation Ike needs.
Ruben Tejada: 0-4.

Altoona (37-47) tops Binghamton (51-30) 6-3.
Cory Mazzoni gets beat up, allowing 6 R, 5 ER, 9 H, 3 BB, 6 K, in 6.0 IP.
Three B-Mets relievers, Adam Kolarek, (BB, 2 K) Ryan Fraser and Chase Hutchingson  each pitched a hitless (scoreless) inning to finish the game.
Allan Dykstra: 1-3, HR, BB, 2 RBI, R.

St Lucie (42-38) edges Jupiter (41-39) 1-0
Domingo Tapia pitched 6.2 Shutout innings: 2 H, 4 BB, 5 K. No decision.
Hamilton Bennett, (W, 2-0) got the win, allowing a BB with 2 K in 1.1 IP.
Tim Byrdak (S, 2) pitched a perfect 9th inning to finish the game.
Matt Reynolds scored the winning run on a bases loaded throwing error (no RBI) in the top of the 9th.

Savannah (49-33) humbles Hickory (47-36) 3-1.
Marcos Camarena,  (W, 3-0) 5.0 IP, R, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 K.  Camarena’s ill fated move up to St. Lucie to start this season after an extremely successful campaign in Savannah in 2012,  appears to have been premature. Since his return to Savannah, in 8 appearances (all but today’s in relief) he has a 1.90 ERA and a 0.91 WHIP. Command has always been his strength, as illustrated by his 1.52 BB/9 in those 8 appearances.
Julian Hilario,  (1.0 IP, 0 H, BB) Paul Sewald,  (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K) and Beck Wheeler (S, 7) (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 BB) held the Crawdads in check the rest of the way.
Phillip Evans: 2-3, 2B, R
Brandon Nimmo, after his election to the Futures All Star team, had the dreaded Golden Sombrero. (4 strikeouts)

Brooklyn (6-10) over Staten Island (8-7) 2-1.
Carlos Valdez excelled: 6.0 IP, 0 R, 3 H, BB, 5 K.
Akeel Morris (BS, 1) (W, 2-0) was perhaps even more effective, allowing an unearned run on 1 H, BB, 5 K in 4.0 IP.
Juan Carlos Gamboa: 2-3, 2B, R.

Kingsport (3-9) @ Greenville (7-5) postponed (inclement weather).

GCL Marlins (4-5) and GCL Mets (1-6) split a double header.
Game 1: Marlins 6-2
Wuilmer Beccera: 3-4, 2 RBI.

Game 2: Mets 5-4.
Scott Atchison, on rehab again: 0 R, H, 0 BB, K in 1.0 IP.
Luis Guillorme: 2-3, 2 R.

DSL Cubs (18-9) crush DSL Mets1 (12-15) 12-1.
Mets highlights? Fuhgedaboudut!

DSL Pirates (15-12) rout DSL Mets2 (15-13) 6-1.
Mets pitchers, Jose Medina (5.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 H, 0 BB, 5 K) and Gabriel Feliz (3.0 IP, 0 R, H, 2 BB, 2 K) pitched well, but Randinson Suazo (L, 1-1) (1.2 IP, 5 R, 5 H, 3 BB) let the game get away in the top of the 10th inning.
Sorry, no hitting highlights. We just didn’t hit.
