August 1st - Marlins 3, Mets 0

Thursday afternoon in Miami, Matt Harvey had to be perfect to win….and he wasn’t as the Marlins forced a split of their 4 games series with a 3-0 win over the Mets. Harvey retired the first 8 batters he faced, but his mound opponent Tom Koehler had the Met offense out of step all day long. In the 6^th with Harvey nearing 100 pitches the Marlins broke through for 3 runs.  Logan Morrison connected with an rbi single to make it 1-0 Miami, then Donovan Solano won an epic 10 pitch duel with Harvey hitting a two run single to right field to make it 3-zip. Prior to that, Harvey had not allowed an earned run in 19 innings since the All-Star Game.   Harvey went 5 2/3 allowed  5 hits, 3 runs (all earned) no walks and struck out 8. He takes the loss, falling to 8-3.  The Met bullpen continues do excel of late. Scott Atchison, Gonzalez Germen  made scoreless appearances, Germen pitched 2 scoreless innings. For the Fish, Koehler went  6 scoreless allowing 5 hits, 5 walks and striking out 5. He gets the win, he’s now 3-6. The Mets only managed 6 hits on the day, led by Juan Lagares and Justin Turner who had 2 hits apiece. The loss has the Mets standing at 48-58 and 27-28 on the road.
