For the second day in a row the Tigers bats were scorching hot as they got to Dillon Gee for 10 hits. The Tigers started early as Miguel Cabrera gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a two run homer, number 42 for the triple crown winner.  The Mets did come back. In the bottom of the third a broken bat single to center by Daniel Murphy brought home Omar Quintanilla to cut the lead in half. In the bottom of the 4th Travis d’Arnaud hit his first major league homer, a 2 run shot to left center to give the Mets the 3-2 lead. In the top of the 9th, the Tigers broke the game open scoring 7 times.  They collected 4 straight hits and a walk off LaTroy Hawkins to score two more times, Scott Atchison came on with the bases loaded and one out and allowed a rbi single to Omar Infante, he dealt a wild pitch to score Bryan Holaday, rbi singles by Ramon Santiago and Matt Tuiasosopo and a sac-fly by Austin Jackson to cap the scoring.  Gee didn’t pitch poorly, but like Matt Harvey on Saturday the red hot Detroit bats had Gee constantly battling with runners on base. The Mets offense was held at bay once again. Only managing 4 hits. Juan Lagares led the way with 2 hits and a run scored.  The Tiger’s sweep the 3 game series amassing 41 hits in the 3 games.
