NYSEG Stadium • Binghamton, NY • 7:05 PM

LAST GAME: The B-Mets finished up a three-game series against the Reading Fightin Phils with a 9-3 win on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Stadium. The game was tied, 3-3 in the seventh inning before Binghamton scored five runs to bust the game open. All eight position players collected at least one hit in Binghamton’s 14-hit attack. Alonzo Harris collected three hits, and Darrell Ceciliani and Travis Taijeron each had two RBI. Greg Peavey threw six innings and gave up three runs and six hits in his win. Hamilton Bennett threw two perfect innings of relief, and Armando Rodriguez threw a scoreless ninth to seal the win. Binghamton won the final two games of the series and won the season series against the Fightin Phils, 4-2.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Noah Syndergaard makes his 10th start of the season for the B-Mets and first against New Britain. In his last start, he threw five shutout innings against Erie in a no-decision. Over his last three starts, he has thrown 16.0 innings and allowed one run on five hits. In 46.0 innings with Binghamton, opponents are hitting .205 against the righty. The 20-year-old started the season in St. Lucie, and went 3-3 in 12 starts. Syndergaard is in his first season with the New York Met organization; he was traded in December 2012 from the Toronto Blue Jays in the trade involving R.A. Dickey. The Blue Jays drafted him in the first (supplemental) round of the 2010 draft.

NEW BRITAIN STARTER: RHP Cole De Vries makes his second start of the season for the Rock Cats. He has pitched at four different levels in the Twin’s organization in 2013. He made nine starts with Rochester (AAA) from mid-May to early July, and went 3-4 with an 8.16 ERA. He has also logged innings with the Fort Myers Miracle (High-A) and the GCL Twins. In 2012, De Vries made 16 starts in the Majors with Minnesota (AL). He went 5-5 with a 4.11 ERA in 87.2 innings pitched. He was signed by the Twins as an amateur free agent in 2006.

WELCOME TO NYSEG STADIUM: Tonight will be the first time New Britain will take the field at NYSEG Stadium this season. They are the only Eastern League team that has not played in Binghamton yet. At New Britain Stadium, Binghamton went 5-3 against the Rock Cats. This is the final regular-season series against New Britain.

HOW THEY CAN CLINCH: Binghamton’s magic number to clinch a playoff spot sits at 2. If Binghamton wins tonight, and Trenton beats New Hampshire, they will earn a playoff spot for the first time since 2004. Their magic number to secure the Eastern Division is currently at 8. The B-Mets have not won a division title since 2000. Binghamton has won the Eastern League Championship twice. They won in 1992 (inaugural season) and again in 1994.

SWIPING BASES: During the Reading series, Binghamton went 7-for-7 in stolen bases. As a team, the B-Mets rank third in the league with 122 stolen bases. They have been successful 73% of the time when trying to steal (122-for-167). Darrell Ceciliani is ranked second in the league with 29 stolen bags.

SUM UP THE ROAD TRIP: Binghamton went 4-3 during their seven-game road trip. Against Erie, Binghamton went 2-2, including a loss from a suspended game in April. They finished the trip going 2-1 against Reading.

HIGH WATER MARK: Binghamton is currently at their franchise high water mark at 30 games over .500. Before 2013, Binghamton’s previous best record was 27-games over .500 in 2000 (82-55).

THREE HITS FOR HARRIS:  Last night Alonzo Harris went 3-for-4 in the win over Reading. That was his fourth game with at least three hits, and his first since May 5 @ HAR.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their three-game series against New Britain on Saturday night. LHP Mark Cohoon takes the mound for Binghamton against RHP Matt Summers for New Britain.

Thor - 5 SO innings, 10Ks, 0 BBs. In AA he's pitched 51 innings with a 1.59 ERA, a 6:1 K:BB ratio (64:10), and a sub-1.00 WHIP.

I feel like a broken record with this kid. He's really come into his own this year and I don't want to have to see him pitching for another team ever. Toronto must be having kittens watching him dominate like this.
